pfft. I don't remember that show well enough to remember the reference but didn't they do their laundry in the building?
My building technically does have a laundry room but the machines are 2x+ the price and they don't even function properly. Nor are they cleaned/maintained. There's only one dryer that actually dries and it smells.

I actually just watched the episode last night, so it's fresh in my mind...but no Ross taught Rachel how to do her laundry at a laundromat and they fought this mean old woman for the machine and the rolling basket...it was hilarious...they just added friend to netflix so I'm like in heaven cuz it's one of my alltime fave shows...Music is my Religion and Pearl Jam, my Savior!
