Will there ever be a full US tour again?

Might be tough with families, other commitments, and playing 3.5 hour shows each day. They do give each show everything they got. The band does a great job personalizing each show to the city. I'm listening to some of the latest boots and they talked about the tragedy the Who had in Cinci with a few fans being trampled to death and how Pete was a voice of comfort when PJ had their tragedy in Europe. Detroit mentioned and played Kiss, Milwaukee eddie went so far as to put on a Packers Jersey (after wearing Walter Payton's all of the Europe tour), St. Louis they delayed the start of the show so the fans can finish watching the huge come back inning for the Cards....

I would think they could do it if they want. But if they're doing 3 hour shows regularly, they probably should consider more days off between shows. The Detroit, Moline, St. Paul and Milwaukee shows were 4 shows in 5 nights. That's crazy when you consider the shows are all 3 hours long and the guys are all around 50.

Hell NO, these guys are rock royalty now. They'll play 1-2 months MAYBE out of the year. What a ride it's been.

and despite the expense of travel, I enjoy the longer shows/shorter tour thing.

...and we're damn lucky they don't take 3, 4, 5 years off like some other bands in their echelon.

  • F Tool...... Their live shows have been cookie cutter setlists for 7 + years. I will get their new album, I might see them when they come through town again, but I don't think half as much of them as I used to (I definitely won't travel to see them like I will for PJ).

Back to PJ, I don't mind the shorter tours, (as long as there's at least upwards of a dozen US shows so I have some options) but I definitely hope they continue the whole 'evening with PJ' theme and continue to not have openers. The last 5 shows I've seen have had this setup & they really have been the best shows I've seen them play.

I prefer the shorter tours as long as they have 2-3 legs a year.

They still need to earn a living. I think they've gone into a groove where rather than a larger 3 leg tour every couple of years, they do a smaller tour every year.

I would imagine these guys have grown accustomed to their lifestyles so they'll want to play to pay the bills :) If they don't do larger tours then they'll keep doing small ones every year.

Definitely. Even with these short tours, there are rarely any Fri or Sat night shows.

I think it's fair to assume there will be 20-30 shows most years consisting of 12 shows per leg.
I was pretty burnt out on Pearl Jam's live show after Missoula 2012. It was basically a Backspacer tour for 3 years and their set needed a change and some new music. I really liked all the shows in 2013/2014, right from London to Milwaukee. The three slow songs to start, longer setlists made me feel like I was seeing something different again.

I do wish the cycle they put out records was more 2-3 years rather than 3-4 years. I really liked the 2005 Canadian tour without an album, but I really think now they need new music to keep the set fresh. By 2012 it felt like PJ was turning into a nostalgia act touring without a new record.

    PLEASE....
    Put PENDULUM away for now!!!
I really miss seeing the traditional openers!!!
Of the 10 shows I've seen on the Lightning Bolt tours these past 2 years,
I've got PENDULUM as the opener 8 times.
It's a good song, but not something that should open
    practically EVERY SHOW!!!

Fuck the stickers, I want a New York rangers pearl jam themed jersey. If Detroit can have a jersey, New York deserves a jersey. And let me see bad brains get assed out on that jersey, not gonna happen.

I had a unique opener for every show I had been to prior to the LB tour. Now it's been Pendulum 5 times in a row. It's starting to have the Led better Effect on me, i.e. I'm sick of it.

HALTS MAUL NEW YORK indeed! (Jk badbrains, there's a lot about NY that I love, just hate the Yankees Giants & Jets!)

I got the Red Sox theme t from Boston in 2010, I love it, but its well worn. I would absolutely love a spoked PJ t shirt! I hope I happens soon (maybe at Fenway next summer?)
