Maybe I missed this somewhere but when was rearviewmirror renamed "Essential Peal Jam"? I was killing time in the Barnes and Noble music section tonight and they were selling the renamed version of the CD.

yeah, they renamed it "essential Pearl Jam" but I have also seen recent copies called "Rearview Mirror" Totally weird. Threw me off for a second when I saw it titled "Essential." Thought maybe they added more songs or something, but it's the same.

They shouldn't have renamed it though because it generic-sizes (new word?) The album as it does all the other "Essential" albums that are out there for $4.99.

    The essential .38 Special
    The essential Pretenders
    The essential Hall & Oates
    etc, etc.

Not that I mind any of the bands, just cheapens the album. I even think "Greatest Hits" sounds cheap. Rearviewmirror fits the album in my own opinion.

Totally agree. That a really great album title was inexplocably changed to a shitty, boring, generic, bargain bin title is surprisingly annoying.

I always wanted to name my first album "greatest hits" when I used to play in a garage band. Thought it would be cool.

I love the Essential series. Cheap way to pick up a lot of good songs. Hall and Oates one is great.

When I had a 'band' in college, we wanted to name our record Steal this record... Oddly SOAD eventually named one of their albums, Steal This Album!! Weird coincidence!
