  • Stone totally fucks up coming out of the break in the middle. Can't figure out how to play the chorus. After the song he shows everyone his fuck up. I love Stone. My favorite by far.

speaking of that letterman hail hail...what a difference in drumming...dont get me wrong, i loved jack irons style...but the rest of the band was so much more over powering back then (for better or worse)...matt definitely provides a heartbeat now and blends right in

I couldn't disagree more. Jack was my favorite. It's no coincidence that Jack was at the helm for pearl jam best three albums.
    he was on 2 albums.
    He recorded on Vitalogy also.
Yes, because we all know that without Stupid Mop Vitalogy would have been a flop.
That's not really the point. The point is that Jack irons was the drummer on the 3 best albums pearl jam released.
Jack has less to do with Vitalogy being good than their drum tech

Jack was the drummer on the Vitalogy tour, not on the record itself (apart from stupid mop, as already said).. Someone here needs to learn a little more PJ history.

Or you could say he was the drummer on the worst song on Vitalogy.

    Just messing around.

Wow, I can't believe this thread is still alive...i posted this back in July...u all are the best:) Don't take such offense to my Jack comments...I loved him and he definitely brought a special groove and spirituality to the band...but I'm just saying on hail, hail it looks like he has a harder time keeping up and the band sounds a little out of balance...imo

Foxy Mop isn't a song IMO. Its the only PJ 'song' I don't like and don't listen to.

  • Listening to the performance of Hail, Hail from '96 compared to a performance of it from 2014 is a totally different experience. I believe their performance of songs evolves over time and the original version's tempo, style, etc. is often lost.

This is why I need to see the band at least one concert during a tour supporting any new album they release. Their performance of that album's songs won't ever be any rawer or more original to form at any other point in time.

There is nothing better than listening to them perform songs live during the tour supporting a new album. Vitalogy songs performed in '94 & '95, No Code songs in '96, Yield songs in '98 and Binaural songs in '00. Just go back and listen to some bootlegs from those tours and compare the performances to now. Quite a difference. Like they say, something can only be original once.

I'm not sure what you mean there...He slides out of the break, then goes right back up the neck for the next chord. Are we talking about different parts in the song?
