    What a sweet face. :x

Some of our dogs have had problems with "leakage" as they got older. What can you do? It's not like it's their fault or you can train them not to. Just one of those things that you try to help them to deal with after a lifetime of them loving you. :-<

Hugs to you, Jo, I can tell what a good dog you are.
Awww, yeah she is a good dog. Her bro was a lovely little man too. Was sad to see him start to lose it mentally. :( at least he has some peace now. Your right, nothing you can do really about her wetting herself except being understanding that shes not doing it on purpose. ;) thanks for listening to all this guys, your all so lovely for giving me your time and support.
    :x :x
We all take turns holding each up, and lifting one another's spirits in these sad times. You guys got me through one of the hardest losses in my life, I found this thread just in the knick of time! And it is amazing to have this kind if support! Hug Jo for me! :-)

Poor Orbit got GVD after eating on Tuesday night. Emergency surgery and a 2 day stay at the vets and my puppy is home resting. She wouldn't eat at the vets but as soon as she got home she ate, drank and had a big wee. Then this morning he pushed out that first tough poop! Never been so happy to see a pile of her crap!
Such a hellish 24 hours. They were talking about removing her spleen and part of her stomach and they recommended that they don't attempt to resuscitate if she died on the table. I was a wreck.
But so far so good. Nothing was removed and they are happy with her progress.
She's on the good drugs so she's even goofier than normal but she's my beautiful giant goofball and this Daddy is very happy she's home.
I can't go the library anymore, everyone STINKS!!

I googled GVD and couldn't find what it stands for.

Really happy to hear Orbit is recovering! Many of us know how terrible it is having a sick dog.

It stands for Gastric Dilation Volvulus, or Gastric Dilation Torsion syndrome . It is caused by over eating, or over excited eating, ( gulping of air durjng the intake of food. It is literally where the stomach folds over on itself, cutting of blood supply to the stomach, spleen and intestines.)It can be righted sometimes through palpating, but mist often requires surgery. Remember the movie Marley and Me?? That eventually is what kills Marley. It is very common in larger dogs. Especially larger and highly excitable dogs. The gas portion of it, can be lessened by Feeding your larger dogs on a tier versus off the floor. This allows them to gulp down food more evenly without inhaling gulps of air, by bringing their neck and shoulders more in line. Wolves generally eat lying down if they are able, avoiding this, but it is very common to them when they have to eat and run.. Most die from it. However our domestic friends get to go to the vet's! Agaric man, surely your vet told you this, but be very watchful, as once this occurs, reoccurrences are VERY VERY common!!

My prayers and heart goes out to you, and Orbit! Tell that lumbering doggie to eat slower!! Hugs to you both!

Ah ha!! Thanks. Just back from the vets. They are very happy with her recovery so far. The local paper was there for some reason and they took her photo and asked about her story. She could be famous!

    Agaric
An agaric is a type of fungal fruiting body characterized by the presence of a pileus that is clearly differentiated from the stipe, with lamellae on the underside of the pileus.

whatever the hell that means! I guess I would have to also google stipe, lamellae and pileus!

Lmao!! Sometimes auto correct can be fun! That sounds like it had to do with fungi growth?? Pileus is a formation found in fermentation.

The big goofball is back to her normal self. She now has her slow feed bowl. There is still a risk of bloat.
Another interesting thing I forgot to mention was her stitches were on the inside so no giant cone of shame. Everyone was happy about that!

Best wishes to all the sick dogs out there. You're in our doggie prayers.

New photos of Lisa. 8 pounds before Thanksgiving. 19 pounds now. (Oh my God.)
