What an asshole: MLB vinyl on eBay

why is this person an asshole? not everyone wants a pile of vinyl sitting around the house cuz some fan club purists think they should. don't be jealous0

People buy them and leave them sealed for a reason. They have value as collectables which goes to all the crazy fans who gobble up all PJ related things. This probably wasn't bought from 10c so I have no issue with it hitting ebay. The only time I have issue with things on ebay are when they come from here as there is a statement on the ordering page "not for resale". That's unenforceable and people hit spots in their lives where money becomes issues and you need to sell assets off. Thats one thing. Buying from 10c and taking it straight to ebay is another as you are literally taking it out of someone elses shopping cart after agreeing you wont resell.
This one PJ seemed to do right with as there are still copies sitting in stores per peoples posts. I hope there will be a lot of disappointed people selling on ebay but probably not. My daughter last christmas got a gaggle of itunes cards as she is 14 and I raised her (music is her thing). Only problem was she converted to a Galaxy right before that and couldnt use them. We sold them on ebay with the idea she could use the money to buy music online from other sites. People would actually bid above face value for a gift card you can buy online anytime you want face value or from every grocery store in America anytime you want. I just dont get it unless they are laundering drug money.Tom Brady & Donald Trump, BFF's

It's a free country people not a dictatorship, I didn't get one but if there is one in a record store and some very nice American or Canadian wants to buy one for me I'll send money via PayPal, but fuckin lighten up on eBay listings , supply demand , and if some one purchased 2 and wants to sell the other , their perogative I'm also pretty sure they don't really give a shit about someone moaning about their listing !!0

Completely agree. Why is OP part of the passive aggressive internet police? I still do not understand what exact outcome is expected. What exactly is wrong with buying something and reselling on an internet auction site? If said behavior is deemed inappropriate, what exact actions should be taken to resolve such behavior?rock4ever said:It's a free country people not a dictatorship, I didn't get one but if there is one in a record store and some very nice American or Canadian wants to buy one for me I'll send money via PayPal, but fuckin lighten up on eBay listings , supply demand , and if some one purchased 2 and wants to sell the other , their perogative I'm also pretty sure they don't really give a shit about someone moaning about their listing !!

I don't see why folks have a problem with someone having a problem with a flipper. He didn't say that he wanted to start an uprising against flippers. He just complained about it happening. I get it. Of course people can do what they want with their stuff, and i personally mostly blame the buyers, not the sellers. But i still understand how it leaves a bad taste in people's mouths. I think that's all the OP is saying. Not trying to be the "passive aggressive internet police" (whatever the fuck that means.. opinion = attempted passive enforcement now??). It's just a bit sleezy to flip shit on ebay, especially from a collector/perspective original buyer's perspective, even if we all do have every right to flip stuff. We have the right to do all kinds of sleezy or vaguely assholey things. I see no reason to jump down a guy's throat for mentioning it.Post edited by PJ_Soul onWith all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Personally I'm not jumping down anyone's throat. I haven't been here very long compared to most of you (only been posting just under 2 years). I've watched this whole flipper debate stuff go back and forth - and I've found the subject kind of fascinating. I see some people complaining about it, then turning around and doing the same thing they complained about themselves. And often people say, well he's a good guy (or a good trader) and it's not flipping. But if a lesser known poster did it, he's sleezy and trying to rip off fellow 10 club members. I think that's what is annoying some people. It's seems to be more about who you are or aren't are, than what you're actually doing.PJ_Soul said:I don't see why folks have a problem with someone having a problem with a flipper. What exactly is the limit to flipping? If someone nabbed a Wrigley Cracker Jack in the 10c sale last year and sells it today - how is that different than someone who bought the MLB vinyl or Moline poster to sell? The cracker jack guy was just sitting on his investment a little longer. You know he intended on selling it for a profit all along.0 -
Lol, I have no idea what the time limit of flipping is.... i guess it's just something that we all have to judge for ourselves and base our opinions on that. It is completely arbitrary. For me it's pretty short. Like, from pre-sale to release day. After that it's anyone's game. It is pretty hard to get mad about anything that isn't brand new, since that's what Lost Dogs is all about! As I said, the stupid prices for merch are really the buyers' faults, even if the sellers don't help by pre-ordering something and posting it for 100x the price before they even know what the demand is. That pisses me off a bit, lol.
But you're right. Have an opinion, but don't be too huge a hypocrite about it if you can help it.Post edited by PJ_Soul onWith all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0 -
I'm not sure where fault lands for flipping. It probably varies from item to item. I do think the 10 club does things to encourage flipping, even though they publicly say they are against it. It is what it is.0

I don't think the 10c does anything to intentionally promote flipping. It seems to me they've just decided not to worry about it. They make things exclusve that they want to be exclusive, without letting the existence of the secondary market dictate or influence those decisions. I think that's a good thing. The alternate to that would be to make everything open edition, which is kind of boring, or price exclusive items much higher, which hurts the people who want to buy an item to keep it.The member formerly known as Scratched Vinyl0

The funny thing is that if it wasn't for collectors/flippers none of this useless shit would be made in the first place because there wouldn't be enough demand for it! I mean I buy this stuff too so not calling anyone out about it, but in the end it's pretty low on the list of importance in the grand scheme.
That said, while it is certainly anyone's prerogative to have an opinion and comment about it, it is also other people's prerogative to comment on said opinion if they disagree. The cliche of all cliches but it's true: free speech doesn't protect you from being called out for your opinion it just protects your ability to voice it.0 -
Yeah, I'm totally on board with the circular opinion argument too, lol. I definitely would never say people shouldn't post something... I'm just saying i don't think there's a good reason to jump down the OP's throat about it. Not that they can't or should shut up.Post edited by PJ_Soul onWith all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0

PJ_Soul all I am saying is that while there may or may not be a "good reason" to jump on OP, the same could be said of OP jumping on Ebay/Lost Dogs seller, etc, etc, as both are nothing more than unsolicited opinions. (And it has gotten to the point where every vinyl thread in lost dogs has someone's unsolicited opinion).
Anyway, there are so so so many posts about this topic every time something goes up for sale and people miss out and I just think it has gotten to the point where others are naturally going to start reacting.
Sort of off topic but people toss around the entitled word around here an awful lot and all these complaining threads are starting to sound a bit like the whole entitled thing. It's like sorry you missed out, but what someone else does quite frankly is none of your business and you were not entitled to get anything (the "you" and "your" being the hypothetical complainer not you PJ_Soul).0 -
That's true. I personally think that ebayers have every right to sell their shit, and if it weren't for the fans who buy this stuff in wouodn't happen. I just also kind of get the irritation felt about it, especially if you really wanted the item but it was sold out (it wasn't hard to get the MLB single though, was it? I don't know because i don't even want it). With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0

Agreed, I do understand the irritation as well. Not sure about the MLB single either as like you I had no desire to own it as it definitely would have been a dust collector for me.0
-
Hopefully the MB single is the way 10c does this now. Post ahead of time when it will be dropped and then make enough to keep it exclusive/somewhat rare but not to the point where it sells out while people are still trying to get through the payment screens. I passed on the MB single also as it just didn't look like something I would enjoy but did check and was happy to see it was still available 30 minutes after it hit the shop. Anyone who really wanted it had a window to get it that was very reasonable. There were also plenty in stores for those that couldnt go the 10c route.Tom Brady & Donald Trump, BFF's

glad I was able to sit this one out, it looked like a nervy sale, with a lot of anxiety and frustration followed by a mountain of them in record stores......I guess a few people made good money capitalising on the rush to grab one after it sold out here not realising how many there would be.
I don't understand the desire for this one, but theres clearly a shit ton of folk who do. MLB are one of those bands that I would never have got past the first three tracks if there wasn't a PJ link.0
