Your post is disrespectful. I agree some improvements should be made, but you really should get that point across in a better way.0
-
At this point, I'm sure the entire band is aware of the merch situation since it's been this way for a few years now (albeit getting worse). They obviously have no problem with it.0

You do have to wonder how much the band pays attention to this stuff. I would have to think if they knew that people were waiting in lineups (for a half a day sometimes) only to be turned away.. it is pretty crazy.
The Pearl Jam of old would of been against that. Selling limited edition merch to the masses causing them to wait in line all day to get it. Making fans wait in line all to day to hand them money seems very anti PJ. I have to imagine there's a disconnect between the band and their merch operations.
Then again, the pop up shop in Seattle last year wasn't much different.. it was also run poorly and that was purely 10c not thinking it through. Limited PJ merch the day after a Seattle show when all the hardcore fans are in town.... Lots of waiting, lots of people, not very much merch.Post edited by Zod on0 -
Hard to judge demand on products like these. Nobody in their right mind would guess four months ago that a picture of a tractor would be so popular. Scarcity plays into their demand as well, if they weren't scarce, not everyone would care.0

People are acting like merch has never sold out before. I missed out on Sevens, the Wrigley posters and the Pittsburgh poster. It happens. There will never be an infinite amount of merch to go around to please everyone.6/29/98 Chicago-United Center

Very true, but I still can't believe that in this day and age a website can't handle a few hundred people trying to buy something. 10C usually gets around 300 or so show edition posters. No reason for the site to practically crash. What I don't understand is that there were only like 350 members signed in when the Moline dropped. Unless every single person who was logged in tried for one, there's no reason why it should have slowed down the site and sold out that fast...RP112579 said:People are acting like merch has never sold out before. So true.... I guess an indictment of how bad some of the posters were on this NA tour.TinAnt said:Hard to judge demand on products like these. I agree with you about the website. It was so slow, I really thought I would get shut out by the time I got to the payment screen. It's frustrating as hell. There is no way it should've bogged down so badly for 350 people on the site.Brane_of_JFK said:

On a related note, I hope this experience finally puts to rest the whole "f5 vs. lottery" debate. Who would want to go back to that?1998-06-30 Minneapolis

Guess I'm just bitter because I got to the payment screen after waiting and waiting to go from one page of the checkout process to the next, entered my CC info, than saw the evil red text stating an item in my cart has been sold out.RP112579 said:

I've noticed they have scheduled sales more recently (posters from this tour and the euro tour), announced sales like the Black Friday one later this week and have done pre-orders like Vault 4.
Yet, people go nuts when it doesn't work out. You say he/she should be fired, I say he/she has noticeably been trying to make stuff more accessible and switched up the sales, but you can't make everyone happy all of the time.
Saying someone should be fired is way overboard."Born on third, thinks he got a triple."0 -
Posting a topic on the bands' website demanding one of their employees to be fired because someone couldn't get a poster is an extreme overreaction and will never solve anything except making the OP look ridiculous.0
-
I wish people would learn to calm down before they have an online fit. think about it. would you have said that out loud to someone? if not, you probably shouldn't have posted it.Hugh Freaking Dillon is currently out of the office, returning sometime in the fall0

Funny thing is I love the Leeds poster and Milton Keynes poster and they are both still available and wasn't a fan of Moline.
Guess it's really not that easy to predict supply and demand.
And when a band places an order with an artist, I'm sure they order 500 (or whatever the number is) from each artist before the design is made and certainly before the band decides to play an entire album at a show.92 - Orlando
