Chris Cornell and Jimmy Page to collaborate in 2015
http://www.alternativenation.net/chris-cornell-jimmy-page-to-collaborate-in-2015/
Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell and Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page held a public ‘In Conversation’ last night in Los Angeles, and at the conversation, a fan in attendance told AlternativeNation.net that Jimmy Page strongly hinted at a collaboration between the two iconic musicians. A fan shouted to Page and Cornell that they should do a song together, Page responded by saying that they’ll be doing that in 2015, and then he hugged Cornell. Page also said it was top secret. There has been no confirmation yet from the Page or Cornell camps, so obviously take this with a grain of salt. Below is a photo from the event.
Below is a press release regarding last night’s conversation:
An Evening With Jimmy Page In Conversation With Chris Cornell with Guitar World and Guitar Aficionado on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at the Ace Hotel Theatre (929 S Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90015). The doors open at 7:30pm and the show starts at 8:30pm.
To celebrate the publication of Jimmy Page’s official photographic autobiography – the first ever book by a member of Led Zeppelin – on November 12 at 8:30pm, Jimmy Page will appear on stage with Chris Cornell. During the course of a dialogue together, the audience will be invited to join Jimmy and Chris looking through unseen photos and memorabilia, many drawn from Jimmy’s personal archives. Jimmy Page will be revisiting memories of his life in music – “from 13-year-old choirboy to Sixties session musician, through The Yardbirds to Led Zeppelin and beyond”.
In the words of Jimmy Page:
“I always like to do something different – if you’re inspired by an idea, really make something of that inspiration. That goes for music, as well as anything else – even putting a book together! To have a photographic autobiography is a totally different way of looking at things, but it does the job very well and I think it will bring a lot of pleasure to people.” – JIMMY PAGE

Nice. I just want Page to do SOMETHING. Plant's not into doing anything. Well heck with him. Frankly I'd be more interested in Page collaborating with a singer (as long as it's not David Coverdale) than I would in a Zeppelin reunion.2000: Camden 1, 2003: Philly, State College, Camden 1, MSG 2, Hershey, 2004: Reading, 2005: Philly, 2006: Camden 1, 2, East Rutherford 1, 2007: Lollapalooza, 2008: Camden 1, Washington D.C., MSG 1, 2, 2009: Philly 1, 2, 3, 4, 2010: Bristol, MSG 2, 2011: PJ20 1, 2, 2012: Made In America, 2013: Brooklyn 2, Philly 2, 2014: Denver, 2015: Global Citizen Festival, 2016: Philly 2, Fenway 1, 2018: Fenway 1, 2, 2021: Sea. I respect Plant for doing his own thing, Zeppelin died with Bonham and thats how it should be. A Page Cornell Collab would be unreal. Cornell certainly has the pipes.Wrigley 2013 Cinci 20140

I'm with you - I just want to see Jimmy Page slingin' that guitar LIVE!!!
His talent is too great to just let it fade away.
And I also like the idea of a collaboration with Chris Cornell - when I saw him with Soundgarden at the recent Bridge School Benefit I was astounded at how incredible his voice still is.
At the same time, I'm really happy that Robert Plant is still continuing on his own musical journey.
I don't blame him one bit for not succumbing to Zeppelin fans' (such as myself) wishes that he retread a road he's already travelled.
Why should he?
Especially with all of the new Zeppelin re-releases that Jimmy has been bestowing upon us.

I personally don't think Plant has the vocal range anymore to pull off Zeppelin stuff on a nightly basis.

not a chance, in fact he could barely sing LZ 1-4 stuff in the late SEVENTIES. After his vocal surgery he hasnt even been close to his formal self.lolobugg said:I personally don't think Plant has the vocal range anymore to pull off Zeppelin stuff on a nightly basis.

you can really tell on the Allison Krauss stuff. she is doubling all his vocal lines. I can't see any other reason why he would turn down the opportunity to print money.tominzinga said:

People have been saying this for decades. Then Zep does the o2 show, and everyone is like "holy crap, they've still got it..."lolobugg said:I personally don't think Plant has the vocal range anymore to pull off Zeppelin stuff on a nightly basis.
The biggest thing for these guys going out there and reforming, is the pressure. The public critics who expect Zeppelin of the '70's to walk out and sound as they did. They know it's impossible to meet everyones expectations. Besides, what do they have to prove at this point? That grandpa's can still rock?
Plant was 32 when Zeppelin ended 34 yrs ago. Characteristically, he still sounds instanly identifiable as only he can. I don't know about you, but I don't sound the way I did 34 years ago..
Looking forward to any collaboration Page may do, but playing with Cornell would be amazing.

I saw Robert Plant in 1993 at Cleveland Public Hall. My husband and I saw Robert Plant and Jimmy Page at Gund Arena in 1995. They BOTH had it back then. At CPHall, RP would sing songs that would go for 15 minutes straight and they would be so involved that you would forget what song it actually began with.
I would HAPPILY go to see Chris Cornell and Jimmy Page. I can't imagine how many shades of awesome that would be. :-bd2014: Cincinnati

That would be kick-ass!"There's a $10,000 bill in it for you."
"Oh yeah? Which president's on it?"
"Uh, all of them. They're having a party. Jimmy Carter's passed out on the couch."
