You're quite the chef, chadwick. I'm not even hungry at the moment and that dinner sounds mighty tasty.chadwick said:

Apparently PJ covered the Nuge this evening? There's a wordy post on the Porch about it
I have no doubt us in the same space at the same time would be high times in all senses.
You folks are some good, fine people.0 -

Speaking of good music, we attended a surprise party last night for my favorite cousin's 60th. Beautiful home in Benedict Canyon (winding roads, mix of old LA and modernized houses, overall a cool and somewhat quaint area), the set-up outside and around the pool was gorgeous, kickass hors d'oeuvres and two guys making paella, open bar, DJ playing good shit from the 60s/70s. Had a really good time.
But two-plus hours into it, I felt claustrophobic from all the people outside, couldn't hear what anyone was saying. I'm NOT into crowds and tight spaces. We stepped out front so I could have a smoke, and we both said pretty much at the same time, "What if we just snuck out right now and left? Would anyone even notice?"
Pondered it for a few and then we high-tailed it
It was a blast - more fun than the party itself.0 -
Good move Hedo. You made the party and did your time,so you guys didn't weasel out.hedonist said:Speaking of good music, we attended a surprise party last night for my favorite cousin's 60th. Bailing on the fly just adds a little mischief and intrigue to the evening. Its the little things in life.
As long as you had some Paella before you left.Ive been to parties and weddings that have had that and it always is awesome.0 -

They were still prepping it, so no paella for us! Which says a lot because I LOVE IT.rr165892 said:

i've gone off & left many a get togethers w/out saying a peep to anyone. i just disappear. i like it that way as there is no drama in long goodbyesfor poetry through the ceiling. ISBN: 1 4241 8840 7

Oh jesus, the saying goodbye thing. In my family, between kissing everyfuckingbody on both cheeks no less, plus the parting chitchat, it's like a prolonged sloooow walk out the door.chadwick said:i've gone off & left many a get togethers w/out saying a peep to anyone. i just disappear. i like it that way as there is no drama in long goodbyes
Definitely was fun to do and the right thing for us. Hate the drama!

Oh and chadwick - no go on the chia seeds! I bought a bottle of water with it (flavored) and couldn't get past the texture. Much as I love sushi, fish roe gives me the willies - that wet pop thing.
Nope!
Was really hoping I'd take to it with all the good things I've heard.
edit - I've heard the dry version can be added to various foods. Gonna give that a shot.Post edited by hedonist on0 -
dry thing? yeah a sack or jar of chia seeds are dry & you add a scoop to your food. i find the texture fantastic & am fully addicted. by doing the chia seed test the way you did you didn't truly experience them. maybe next time.for poetry through the ceiling. ISBN: 1 4241 8840 7

Sometimes I choke on tests, sometimes I ace them. This one, not so much on the acing front
Still got a lot to learn about this and other items to make me feel good. Not that I feel unwell (aside from my back and other getting-older stuff) but it couldn't hurt to try new avenues. Been peeking in on the Paleo thread too.
Oh, and long goodbyes - when Danny and I were doing the long-distance thing, it was almost physically painful to say goodbye. Especially right after 9/11 when security was so tight. Had to do it bandaid-like...just rip it off!
(of course, me in tears afterward)
I like hellos so much better.0
