What kind of guitar did ed smash last night?

Looked like it to me. I was happy to see it destroyed. I'm Telecaster guy... not a big fan of the SG.
Peace, Love.

I'm looking for a new guitar. I would've gladly taken it off Ed's hands if he didn't want it anymore

Damn I can't imagine smashing any Gibson. Wow.I'll ride the wave where it takes me......0
-
When was the last time Ed smashed one prior to this? Garden, '03?
Just wondering, because that was an SG too (SG Jr, iirc). Could be two things: A: Gibson's are way easier to smash, neck is glued in place, as opposed to Fender's bolt on necks. B: maybe he really does get frustrated with Gibson's…should stick with the Tele's.
cheers, go get 'em Ed!0 -

I dont think there was anything wrong with the guitar, I think he was just acting like Pete Townshend fromhis younger days.0
-
Worth the trip from Jersey just to see that!!! Goose bumps......I shit and I stink, I'm real, join the club.0
-
My take was he was upset his microphone wasn't on at one point, but he may have just wanted a new one as well...0

Probably will be viewed as heresy when I say this, I know, because people seem to view this sort of thing positively, but I've never understood why a musician would destroy his instrument. It seems disrespectful to me.my small self... like a book amongst the many on a shelf0

it was not an expensive guitar. I'd say it was an SG knockoff.0
-
I highly doubt it's a knockoff, it's a 1968 Gibson SG that he has been using since at least 1997, which is the oldest reference I can find on tech sites. I can't recall him playing Lukin on any other guitar, so I'll be watching the set lists and YouTube to see what he plays it from here out. 3 to 5 grand for one of those, but it might be worth more smashed lol.buck502000 said:

I have a really nice Telecaster that I would trade for an SG ANY day lol. I like a guitar that pushes back, and Teles are like butter in your hands. I'd like to see him replace it with a PRS!the wolf said:Looked like it to me. I was happy to see it destroyed. I'm Telecaster guy... not a big fan of the SG.

Possibly a tribute to Pete. They talked about the Who and the whole Cincinnati connection. Healthy way to take out some emotion.lowbudgetlush said:I dont think there was anything wrong with the guitar, I think he was just acting like Pete Townshend fromhis younger days.

People do realise that Townshend used to smash his guitar at the end of most shows, then just put it back together (if he could) and smash it at the next show?
Eddie gave it the Townshend windmills near the end of the song. In the building where the Who had a concert tragedy. Seems to me to clearly just be Ed paying respect to the Who and PT.
It wasn't even that much of a smashing. A few tosses in the air, and a few hits on the ground. People are acting like he went berserk and destroyed it into millions of tiny pieces. I wouldn't be surprised if the guitar was salvageable. Didn't even look like he broke it. At least from that video above.0 -
