That was my favorite song from the first listen. Wearing it out.

Also not impressed with the guitar smashing bit- that's not something The Edge does (or any of the members of the bands to which they are paying tribute).

    Well... I beg to differ...

How could I forget that one?!! :-D

Seriously though, can you picture The Edge, that neat and tidy Mr. Evans, smashing a guitar? ;-)

Will give "Every Braking Wave" a listen. Despite what I've said here I'm a long time U2 fan wanting very much to like this band again. I'll give some of the other songs a try and cross my fingers.

The soaring vocals on this new record are really awesome. I am going to pick up the physical CD though cos' I'm not sure about the whole 'mastered for iTunes' thing.

I'm glad you guys like it and I'm not putting Bono or U2 down- I try not to do that with any music- it just doesn't work for me, especially because if Bono is going to sing about punk rock I wish he would give it more punch. Also not impressed with the guitar smashing bit- that's not something The Edge does (or any of the members of the bands to which they are paying tribute). The whole thing just seems overly commercial to me but, hey, it's only rock and roll.

overly commercial....haha. you are surprised by this? it's u2, man.

I'm loving Iris as well. The best albums usually take a bit of time to grow on you. I'm finding that with this one.

Well son of a bee! Do you suppose it was like "I'm so cool I'm going to trash my guitar" or "We sucked so bad tonight..." (...WHAM! Throws down guitar)? :))

It was that second thought. He was very unhappy with his guitar/playing that night during that song. And yes, it is very uncharacteristic of him to destroy a perfectly good guitar.

Its a big bad world full of possibilities where a dud guitar could be built and his could have been one ;))

That's kind of what I thought. The Edge is the ultimate Gear Dude if there ever was one. Seeing his set up in the film "It Might Get Loud" made me think of only one other player with that much rigging (though there are others, no doubt): Adrian Belew.
