Either the itunes site has crashed already or you need to be on an Apple product to download it at the moment.
    Either way I can wait
  • I got it today. I'm on the first listen and I think it's going to be better than their last few albums, especially Horizon.

It is downloadable. I just went into iTunes and downloaded it. It also says that on your device if you open the music app it is already loaded into the cloud, so you can either download it, or stream it.

Listening now. Thanks for the heads up!

It wasn't showing up on my itunes for probably the first hour after the announcement, but just downloaded it. I am sure it takes a little time to go live to every iTunes user. What a day for new music, U2, Ryan Adams, The Call Tribute Album ft Robert Levon Been, Justin Townes Earle, and Delta Spirit.

I still had to pirate it because nothing I own will play apple files.. lol. Actually I'm not sure if it's really pirating. I downloaded the mp4 version from itunes... then when it wouldn't work on my portable player, instead of putting in the effort to convert it to mp3, I grabbed it from an alternate source....

It's kind of cool for U2 to that. I imagine they got a decent sized chunk of cash from Apple to do so (and if that many people get the album for free.. doesn't that give them an automatic #1 album?). On the other hand the world seems polarized when it comes to Apple. Half the people really love Apple product and half the world doesn't. When you make something Apple only, you alienate the other half.

Actually it's pretty cool marketing strategy with the new iPhone coming out next month. It gives Apple a bang for the buck and this move gives U2 worldwide recognition itch this surprise release via this download format. Just watch how much buzz this album creates whenever it's officially released. I've always had an iPhone but now that's history with what I now have
Samsung Galaxy S5 my iPad allowed me to download this album. Say when is this album supposed to be officially released?

If your iTunes account says that you purchased the album...... go to iTunes preferences and then click on the "store" function tab. Then click/check mark the box labelled: show iTunes in the Cloud purchases.
    Have a nice week.

not the first time U2 and Apple do something together... Remember a couple of years back when Apple released the U2 iPod pre-loaded with every single U2 song and albums???

I must admit i was VERY disappointed after the first listen. This is a 'creeper' album and it takes on a new feel with a each listen. Give it another try

I've had this happen to me on many new albums. One of the worst ones was Peter Gabriel's SO album, returned the vinyl album. After hearing several tunes on the radio months later....I said to myself that song was from the SO album? I bought it on cd by then I've loved that album ever since 25+ years later. This happens I believe quite often on an album that is not something one wanted to hear on a first listening then later for whatever reason it clicks or sinks or at a live show. Good luck.

  • I haven't paid much attention to U2 in a long time. I listened to it and was not impressed. I like the single and that's about it.

I'm pleasantly surprised. Some pretty good songs on this album.
Aside from Bono's voice, it doesn't sound much like classic U2 though....and that's alright.

I can't stand U2 and it (briefly) offended me to see that this shit was automatically included in my iTunes. They should have given people the choice instead of automatically adding it

  • Funny how nobody even cares about this since the Apple event itself upstaged the album. I have it a listen and it didn't do anything for me.

I love old school U2 but man.... Aside from a few songs here and there, this band has really been irrelevant from a studio sense. I can't wait to see them live agai though, they still bring it.

u r so right about that GunderP
it's always disappointing to me when people say yeah i listened to it once and found it < perfect.
it's such an easy cop out. there are many albums that i love that i didn't fully connect with after 1st listen but that doesn't stop me from a 2nd/3rd/4th listen. i've shelved some cds for a month or two and then came back to them and tried again. also i spin it in the car or at home or somewhere different to mix up the listening experience. the cds i do get on first listen are easy, but i have also found the ones that require more spins to get can sometimes end up better in the end. if that makes sense. also i've found that sometimes the songs take on a life of their own when played live. so a song that i thought was just OK at first, ended up being fantastic in a live setting. City Of Blinding Lights did that for me.
  • Enjoying it still. Not my favourite U2 LP but still way better than the last one. Its tough for me not to like them when listening to the body of work they've done. Simply amazing if ask me. One day I'd live to here 'Pop' remixed. That record is so harshly criticized and it fucking rocks! Plus the only time I saw them live was the 97' PopMart tour and holy shit they played those Pop songs so damn well!
