04/11/01 - The Independant Theatre: Sydney, Australia (private/secret Ben Harper show)
    attendance: 200
set 1: Indifference [only song that included Ed]
notes: This was a Ben Harper show in a very small intimate venue with an audience comprised of Virgin Records and Triple J contest winners. The setting is just Ben and his guitar and a second chair is brought out and it is announced that Ben will be joined by "a special friend" and Ed comes out. He makes a funny little speech about Nader and the election. Then they played 'Indifference,' both sitting with acoustic guitars, trading verses.

But how comes he says thats it is at MSG.......not as in the flavour enhancer 621.....LOL....
I did actually read something a few weeks ago and it had it was the JJJ gig..
But I had forgot how Ben Harper had that and invited Ed as a surprise guest.

Eddie is thanking Ben for playing the Nader Rally at the MSG the year before.

How come Ben says to the crowd thanks for being a part of this and then leaves the stage....sounds more like a political rally than a gig for 200 contest winnners...

    1. It's sydney, trust me. :D
    2. Listen to the crowd, does it sound like a venue that holds 20,000 people or 200 people.
    3. Eddie says something to the effect of, "I'd just like to thank ben for doing this Nader Rally at MSG before last years election, nader was the only real man to run".
    4. the description from 5h i posted above gives the date of the Sydney ben secret show, then gives details about ed coming out and talking about Nader
    5. it's sydney, it's the exact same audio as the show that triple J have broadcast many times.
    6. the show was filmed cause it was a webcast you could watch live on the date of the show.
    7. here is Ed's set from the Nader rally at MSG in 2000(no indifference w/ben):

10/13/00 - Madison Square Garden (Ralph Nader Rally): New York City
set: I Am A Patriot, The Times They Are A-Changin' [both solo acoustic], People Have The Power [group jam/finale]
notes: Similar to the previous appearances, this night also features various other performers including Ani DiFranco, Ben Harper and Patti Smith. Ed performs the same songs as at the Chicago rally, with the same details: he had permission from the author to perform the Dylan tune, that he thought he'd be able to write a new song for Ralph, but that it seemed as relevant as ever, even after 30 years. Ed also appears in the 'all-star' jam at the end, which was Patti Smith's anthem, 'People Have The Power.'

    That looks kewl block mounted...
Ive got a couple of stickers like that from the 2003 tour..
Still havent stuck them anywhere yet....

How does block mounting cost compared to framing.....
My 9 yr old daughter wants to get her two Falls posters she got signed
by Eskimo Joe and Youth Group framed but I was think block mounting would be the way to go....

Block mounting is definitely the cheaper of the two Suz. personally, it doesnt look quite as good but it does keep the posters in good nick and obviously looks way better than just the poster on the wall. If framing is gonna cost too much, then block mount them.....or you could go even cheaper and get a frame from Crazy Clarks or somewhere like that. I have heaps of shit on the walls (Not posters though) in those frames and they look pretty sweet.

Day THIRTEEN off the smokes. Man, it's been so easy it's not funny -- mind you I'm still on patches so I'm still getting nicotine. Probably turn into the bitch from hell when I stop the patches.

Might do that t-shirt order tomorrow....got enough ordered to do an order so I'd prefer not to wait for the slow-pokes in case we all miss out. I'll do another order for any others later.

So if anyone is still making up their mind, PLEASE order TODAY!!!

I didnt get an acid free mat wouldnt that be for the silk screen prints...
The OZ ones arent silk screened or are they?..
I got the non reflective glass looks awesome u cant even tell it has glass..the frame looks good. I probably couldve put a mat boarder around it, but it looks ok without. All up it cost $139. The extra dollars was worth getting non reflective glass.
Now I cant decide where to hang it. Its been on 3 different walls so far...
I will take a picture tomorrow..with natural light...
I would say acid free for all. It stops the acids in the paper (the poster) from damaging itself. I think with silkscreen it is really important not to have the poster touching the glass or the paint comes off but for the lithos it won't matter so much. As for non reflective it's probably personal preference. I got for the UV filter glass to protect from fading and I think the images look sharper than through the non-reflective. Mine usually cost around $170 and that is for 1 or 2 mats.

I got my 4 Oz done, plus 2005 Montreal and a Shihad/Datsuns poster I got the other week. I'll try and post pictures soon, but a couple of them are a bit screwed so I'm going to have to take them back, which I hate doing. Especially for small things, for example, there's a small bit of dust on the inside of the glass on one of them and when it's hanging you can see the shadow on the poster and it's really distracting/annoying. I could take it out and wipe it off myself but when you paid $200 they should do it for you, right?

Probably is Sydney because 2001 is also the year Ed snuck into New Zealand and did some shows with Neil Finn. Thanks for the video and info. :)
