    Thanks to all who responded about Motor City Casino.... I do not mind taking a taxi too the Joe (it is less than 3 miles), I just want to stay someplace that is in a cool area since I will be there all weekend(going to Saints/lions game Sunday). Is the area around Motor City cool? What is the best area to stay where I have access to nice restaurants and cool bars?

    The Hilton Garden in is two blocks from Ford Field and a block from Greektown and a block from the People Mover.

    and NO, the area around the Motor City Casino sucks. You won't be waling the streets there.

    stay in Ann Arbor. It is lovely in the fall and there is so much to do. Although it is an open date so no fb game at the Big House on Saturday. This is a plus cuz rooms will be plentiful and not nearly as expensive as it would be with a game on.

    I can vouch for that! I live in Ann Arbor - a lot to do, great restaurants and bars, museums, fun college atmosphere!

    Concur with others as well, do not stay at the Motor City casino if you are looking for things to do within walking distance. The Doubletree, Crowne Plaza, Hilton Garden Inn, Greektown casino, (or the Book Cadillac if you are rich!) are much better places to stay for things to do in the near vicinity.

    Thanks for the input. I just also booked a room at Caesar's in Windsor. How is Windsor for nice bars, restaurants & partying? I am sorry to keep asking questions, but I have never been to the area... I plan on spending time and money in Detroit, but staying in Canada seems intriguing.

    Nice strip clubs. Stay in the city. The economy needs it. There is lots to do. Don't miss the Motown Museum. My opinion is to stay at the Garden Inn. Nice bar... Walking distance to everything. But don't wait, if the Tigers are in the WS you will not be able to touch a room anywhere. Take it for what' it's worth.
