Trying very very hard not to explode in Ikea. I am supposed to meet a friend for dinner in 20 minutes but because every single thing takes an hour to do here there's no way I'm gonna make it in time.

I can't even go to IKEA right now. They locked out all their employees at the IKEAs in my area in 2013 because the workers rejected a discriminatory wage system and subsequent worker intimidation. The locked out employees ask that we don't shop at those particular IKEAs until management ends the lockout and treats its employees fairly. So as a union member and just as someone who is sick of mega-companies bullying their employees because they're greedy, I can't shop at IKEA where I live. Which is fine, because fuck them. I accidentally went a few months ago because I didn't realize that that location also had locked out employees at the time. Oopsies. And I do miss those delicious little chocolate/crunchy toffee candies they have.ldent42 said:Trying very very hard not to explode in Ikea. Trying to understand why people can't understand that I have to run a credit check on EVERYBODY...and no, I can't 'hold' the property for you...no matter how much money you throw at me.The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

Just a quick update to my Ikea saga: I wound up waiting in Ikea for 3.5 hours to get a replacement mirror door for a wardrobe because the one I bought the weekend before last was shattered. They pack the fucking thing in the stupidest way imaginable (nothing between the mirror and the other door besides a thin strip of cardboard, no Styrofoam)so it breaks inside without any visible damage to the box, aka 'concealed damage' for those of us who used to do RMAs for a living.
I had my receipt, I had photos of the broken shit, I had ZERO trouble with the Customer Service rep, just a quick convo and some paperwork, took 10 minutes max. 3 hours just waiting, waiting for my turn to talk to the CSR, waiting for them to bring my item out of the back, waiting for the CSR to liberate the one item I needed from the stack of three boxes that got pulled from the back. No wonder the one in your area is on strike PJ Soul, they are in seriously understaffed in Brooklyn, and devastatingly inefficient, probably part of the problem by you as well. seriously 3.5 hours in the middle of the afternoon on a weekday when all i needed was a replacement door. AND they wouldn't ship it for me I had to take an unplanned taxi home with it and get it upstairs myself.
And all this while I'm waiting to find out if I won 10C tickets to STL or not. In a store with no cell signal except in one spot by the window. Painful.
And PJ Soul I bought the pink box of crunchy cookies with chocolate in the middle while I was waiting. I seriously dunno wtf they put in the cookies from that place but I doubt it's legal.NYC 06/24/08-Auckland 11/27/09-Chch 11/29/09-Newark 05/18/10-Atlanta 09/22/12-Chicago 07/19/13-Brooklyn 10/18/13 & 10/19/13-Hartford 10/25/13-Baltimore 10/27/13-Auckland 1/17/14-GC 1/19/14-Melbourne 1/24/14-Sydney 1/26/14-Amsterdam 6/16/14 & 6/17/14-Milan 6/20/14-Berlin 6/26/14-Leeds 7/8/14-Milton Keynes 7/11/14-St. Louis 10/3/14-NYC 9/26/15

That's a familiar one! I've been doing that for a couple of years almost. I read the forum while laying with my son until he's asleep. I'm of the belief that I should give the little ones what they need until they no longer need it. So, while my friends kids have been "independently" sleeping for a long time, I didn't mind bc I know when he's ready he will sleep by himself. Plus I got uninterrupted time for forum reading. Last night he hugs me and tells me, "mom, you can go. I actually think I sleep faster alone." :x He's such a sweetie.northerndragon said:Sitting on the floor of the kids bedroom surfing the forum waiting for them to pass out.
