First off, the use of the word "denigrate" is not entirely correct in this thread to begin with, but I was just going with it as it was being used. Nice try on the whole reading comprehension angle, but you're reaching juuuuust a bit.know1 said:No - her hashtag denigrates the other hashtag campaign. I'm surprised at the lack of reading comprehension here.
Her sign belittles the hashtag campaign and the first lady's sign. Better?Bright eyed kid: "Wow Typo Man, you're the best!"

I can't think of a media personality I dislike more than Ann Coulter. blech.0

What amazes me is that people like Coulter, rather than be in on solving real world and humanitarian problems, resorts to petty bipartisan and attention whoring games… and people actually don't see above her enough to simply ignore it all. They get distracted and feed into it by taking her bait and getting angry. (no offense to anyone in particular here)

We want a nice home where we can leave the doors unlocked, dad gets home from his manufacturing job at 5PM, church every Sunday, and an apple pie cooling on every window sill.

I think the initial step in trying to achieve that goal... would be to live that life as an example.

They mean nothing but to infuriate you, distract you, and to attempt to get you to give them attention. Don't do it, man.Cosmo said:When someone says, 'We want our country back'...

people lost their country to the corporations a long time ago. you want to know who owns america? go look in your refrigerator, or go look at the military planes sitting at your big city airport."You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln

I think to ignore a bully is not a good solution because they almost count on good people not stepping in. I feel bullies need to be called on their behavior, not ignored!backseatLover12 said:What amazes me is that people like Coulter, rather than be in on solving real world and humanitarian problems, resorts to petty bipartisan and attention whoring games… and people actually don't see above her enough to simply ignore it all. We finally agree on something. Her hashtag does not denigrate the abduction of 100 girls.
It denigrates the abduction of over 200 girls.
Ann Coulter is a pig. She is a cold-hearted, mean-spirited, manipulative pig who will do and say anything to remain in the public eye and make money. Plain and simple. She knew exactly what she was doing when she made up the sign, and she knew she'd take a lot of heat.
The wife of the president was trying to help in any way she could and Ann made light of the fact that 200+ girls have been abducted just to get a nice little cheap shot in. She is so filled with hatred and rage at the opposing political party and its sitting president that she is willing to cop a joke at the expense of a well meaning and desperate campaign started by the first lady which has nothing to do with politics.
I say without any degree of hesitation: Fuck Ann Coulter and shame on anyone who even remotely defends her.

Yeah, 'belittles' is a more appropriate word.BinFrog said:

She's implying that 'her country' has been taken away from her by dark-skinned people, and by those who don't believe that their role on this Earth is to prostrate themselves before the altar of $$$, and who are so unpatriotic and ungrateful that they actually don't believe that the purpose of their lives is to compete with everybody else in an effort to buy more stuff, and to rape the planet in the process. She's also referring to people who don't go to Church every Sunday and sing hymns in the name of a 2000 year old Middle Eastern desert religion, while filling the coffers of the local huckster. And she's referring to the fact that a black President has hijacked her country for the benefit of Communists and Muslims.Cosmo said:When someone says, 'We want our country back'...

Bullies are ultimately insecure and desperately need attention (and love). Giving them the attention they seek, even if it's negative, is still attention. They win when we react to them. Always.justam said:

bullies always win anyway. You can whoop a bullies ass and they still won because you had to sink to their level. Wel,l Ann Coulter is a schoolyard bully who already has the attention she needs. Neocons love her, she sells a ton of books, I'll bet Sally Sue even lets Jeffro call out "ANNNNN!!!" when they get down. There's already a crowd cheering this bully so we progressives at least have to jump in and throw down.backseatLover12 said:

I've found the solution:hedonist said:I don't defend what she did - it's just more of the stupid childish behavior that social media has encouraged among idiots - but I do defend her right to make an ass of herself.
Fuck anyone who judges me for that!
Fuck everybody!)
Speaking to a couple of comments above, is Coulter really a bully? She may be many things, but I don't see her as such. The term bully - to me, anyway - seems to get slapped onto anyone who irritates or offends.
Lots of stuff angers me - some festers for a bit, some I address, most is tossed away.
I mean, consider the source of this particular outrage.
Is she worth it?0
