Ann Coulter - Twitter Backlash
Twitter’s Response to Ann Coulter’s Attempted Hijacking of #BringBackOurGirls is Glorious Justice
Conservative Troll Ann Coulter jumped into it on Sunday night, joining a band of Conservatives who are doing what Conservatives do best: mocking the kidnapping and sale of young black women into sexual slavery. They attacked the #BringBackOurGirls campaign, which began as an attempt to raise awareness of the kidnappings . Coulter, being a reasonably successful troll, decided to “contribute to the discussion,” in a way that only a conservative troll can.

Coulter received retweets from the usual suspects, including Right Wing Running Mouth, Erick Erickson and the radio show host, Thomas Purcell. Then it backfired. People who actually care about humanity got a hold of Coulter’s tweet, editing out her text and ‘shopping new text where the old text had been:

Do people really just read this stuff and take it as face value?

Interesting that you choose to focus your indignation on the above criticism, instead of on this woman's disgraceful insensitivity.know1 said:

Sure, the intro is over the top. But that's not really the issue here.

I don't support her disgraceful insensitivity (and I agree that's what it is), but the most egregious thing I see in the post is the line that says conservatives best skill is mocking kidnapping and sexual slavery.
How can anyone truly believe that anything they say after that would be taken seriously? And why would anyone take anything seriously after reading that? The only people we should try to get even with...

Also, do we think it's an appropriate response to call a person names and belittle them if you disagree with what they do?
The world would be a much better place if people would just be the change they want to see. But that's such common sense it would never work. The only people we should try to get even with...

the whole freak out about every single thing B. and M. Obama do is so played out and reeks of sadness and desperation at this point. We want our country back? Like in 2008 when everything was a pile of shit?
Would electing someone like Herman Cain, Mitt Romney, or Newt magically give Ann Coulter her country back?
How has Michelle Obama taken the United States from Ann Coulter?
The whole negative smear campaign over the past 6 years has blown up in the Koch Brothers' faces as the economy has seemingly recovered, people havent had all their guns seized, we arent balls deep in 2 wars, Obamacare wasnt the end of the world and collapse the entire medical system, and we havent degraded into Socialism or Communism. Nobody cares enough to keep digging over the top on Benghazi, and everyone's 401Ks seem fat and happy. They saw/believe there was a smear campaign on Bush (not that he was a complete disaster and failure as a President) and tried the same "tactic" and tried to get retribution.
Obama hasnt been great. There are things he can take a hit on. Surveillance, Guantanimo, a few foreign policy judgements, etc to name a few... but they wont touch that stuff, because in large part, they agree with those.
It is time Republicans build up their "brand" into something people can/want to get behind instead of depending on fear and misinformation (such as the Obamas somehow "seizing" the United States from a simpler time when everyone went to church and apple pies cooled on every window sill).Post edited by MayDay10 on0 -

Yeah, I do. People like her should be ridiculed. They should be ridiculed because they are dangerous idiots in positions of influence. If people treat her with respect when she denigrates such things as the abduction of 100 girls, then it gives the impression that such actions/behaviour are acceptable. They aren't.know1 said:Also, do we think it's an appropriate response to call a person names and belittle them if you disagree with what they do?

I flipped on Rush yesterday during my lunchtime drive (I only do because everything else is on commercials and (intentionally I believe) his show motors through). Its interesting to see the level of uncontested complaining this guy does...Byrnzie said:

Anyways, he was going on and on about this "hashtag" campaign and how stupid it is, etc. I couldnt understand the venom. It makes sense now that I hear an Obama was behind it.

She operates in the public sphere, and therefore carries a large degree of influence - whether deservedly so, or not. Therefore she needs to be very careful about what she says and does. And when she makes some racist comment, or belittles a campaign aimed at trying to rescue 100 girls, then the witless bimbo deserves all the ridicule she gets.0

I also don't think that her hashtag really "denigrates ...the abduction of 100 girls". If you think it does, then perhaps you were more than ready to be offended by anything she does.

I find people who defend trolls like Coulter interesting. It says a lot about a person, it says that one will defend the hate-filled to the death. They are lost souls...know1 said:

We finally agree on something. Her hashtag does not denigrate the abduction of 100 girls.
It denigrates the abduction of over 200 girls.
Ann Coulter is a pig. She is a cold-hearted, mean-spirited, manipulative pig who will do and say anything to remain in the public eye and make money. Plain and simple. She knew exactly what she was doing when she made up the sign, and she knew she'd take a lot of heat.
The wife of the president was trying to help in any way she could and Ann made light of the fact that 200+ girls have been abducted just to get a nice little cheap shot in. She is so filled with hatred and rage at the opposing political party and its sitting president that she is willing to cop a joke at the expense of a well meaning and desperate campaign started by the first lady which has nothing to do with politics.
I say without any degree of hesitation: Fuck Ann Coulter and shame on anyone who even remotely defends her.Bright eyed kid: "Wow Typo Man, you're the best!"

I don't defend what she did - it's just more of the stupid childish behavior that social media has encouraged among idiots - but I do defend her right to make an ass of herself.
Fuck anyone who judges me for that!0 -

Look at it this way: there's a hashtag campaign (I'm not even sure what that means, but I'll go with it) to raise awareness about a brutal abduction of little girls in Nigeria. It says "Bring Back Our Girls."
Ann Coulter apparently sees this campaign, and doesn't think "hey I'll retweet it, support it, go with it" OR SAY NOTHING AT ALL. Instead, she sees it as an opportunity to start her own campaign, using identical wording.
There is something awful unfolding in Nigeria right now. By her tweeting something in the exact same wording as the original tweet but with a totally different political message, its clear that she disregards the campaign to begin with and is so one-track-minded that she'd rather derail a campaign intended to help little girls sold into sexual slavery. The ironic thing is this is probably not the least egregious way in which Coulter, as an apparent conservative, has disregarded the plight of poor black human beings.
