"Bad Advice" says Ed on Pono Promo
Did you notice Eddie's comment on the quality of PJ studio recordings "for the past twenty years" in the clip on the Pono site?
He says they were given some bad advice and were not as good as they could be.
Can anyone provide any insight to what he's referring to? (Aside from Vs. being recorded too quickly?)
Thanks!

A record that sells 12 million copies sounds just fine. I'm glad they didn't turn it into something else.0

Yeah. I think it's an album with a unique identity with all the songs soaking in the reverb.bootlegger10 said:A record that sells 12 million copies sounds just fine. I'm glad they didn't turn it into something else.
Riot Act and Binaural also feels like a collection of songs with one creative idea regarding the audio-identity that holds them all together and creates "one thing".
Rather that, than the stale, sterile sound of BoB's latter albums. Put Amongst the Waves on LB and Future Days on Backspacer and no one would react.
But Eddie mentioning "the last 10 years", I'm pretty sure he means Avocado.Post edited by Spiritual_Chaos on"Mostly I think that people react sensitively because they know you’ve got a point"0 -

He's talking about the quality of digital music and MP3's in general since they've been introduced to the public, not Pearl Jam albums.
"we" = Music/recording industry and music consumers in general...not Pearl Jam specifically.

Unless there has been some recent falling out with BoB I don't see how it has anything to do with him. I don't think they would have gone back to him and recorded more albums with him than any other producer if they didn't like the results0

It was just a joke. Obviously EV wasn't talking about his producer and friend like that. Yeah, i think he was talking generally, not about PJ.Karojo820673 said:Unless there has been some recent falling out with BoB I don't see how it has anything to do with him. Yes, they seem happy with BoB for some reason... I just don't understand how that's possible, because I think the guy is responsible for a lot of the horrible choices made for Backspacer and Lightning Bolt.Post edited by PJ_Soul onWith all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Brendan O'Brien - is a producer and mix engineer.
A producer has many roles that may include, but are not limited to, gathering ideas for the project, selecting songs and/or musicians, coaching the artist and musicians in the studio, controlling the recording sessions, and supervising the entire process through mixing and mastering.
A mix engineer or mixing engineer is a person responsible for combining ("mixing") the different sonic elements of a piece of recorded music (vocals, instruments, effects etc.) into a final version of a song (also known as "final mix" or "mixdown"). He or she mixes the elements of a recorded piece together to achieve a good balance of volume, while at the same time deciding other properties such as pan positioning, effects, and so on.0 -
