I have been a huge fan of Popmarket for a long time, I always considered them a hidden gem. But the prices are absurd to Canada now, so I am pretty much done. Unless they have something super cool or limited.

There's no such thing as free shipping. When you buy things from companies that offer free shipping, it means the shipping cost is included in the price of the product. I'm guessing pop market changed the way the ship to canada (or had a price increase in the method they use) and that's now being passed on to to the consumer. Since they hide the shipping cost in the price of the item, the price of the items have gone up in price.

Perhaps pop market should find an alternative method of shipping? What do they use? UPS? I wish more companies would ship usps. I don't care if it takes a little longer, it's usually cheaper and the customs going from usps to canada post are pretty lenient.

Yeah I totally agree, I said the same thing on a different thread last week, but Amazon finds a way and they're prices are more than competitive and shipping is free (over $25). Popmarket's prices with the new shipping method or pricing or whatever are no longer competitive.

It's international though. Amazon.ca's shipping prices are reasonable (as they are free over $25) but Amazon.com's to Canada have gotten pretty expensive. When you add up the shipping costs and the forced payment of import fees (taxes) it's really become cost prohibitive.

Websites like popmarket are at a disadvantage as they don't have a physical presence in Canada. Thus it's international shipping.

I've noticed that it's getting more and more expensive to ship from the USA to Canada. I stopped ordering from soundstagedirect because the shipping costs were getting insanely high.

81 euros over here (about 112 usd) for the 3 vinyl set. Popmarket has turned into a joke for international orders.

Can't speak to the international issues but PopMarket does have The Black Crowes' Wiser For The Time box set available for about $30 cheaper than Amazon. Tempting but I need to pass this week.

I generally agree, but that is why I have become a huge fan of sweetwater.com for ordering musical equipment: free shipping on pretty much everything...and the products cost the same if not LESS than other similar sites like musiciansfriend and zzounds.

I just went to order Led Zep's Celebration Day on popmarket. It's on sale for $40 CAD. Good price! I went to checkout, and suddenly the shipping and handling is $49!!!!!! Whaaaat???? That is so ridiculous that I thought maybe it's a mistake, especially given the fact that shipping's always been free to Canada until now. I looked for a phone number so I could call them and check, or see if I can get some kind of normal shipping option, but there is no phone number anywhere on their website, so I sent them an email and likely won't hear back until the Memorial Day sale is over anyhow. :(

If that isn't a mistake, well, I'd take that as a sign that popmarket is purposefully driving away Canadian business. Already the prices of the items have skyrocketed recently, but $49 shipping for one album with no other shipping options offered - that's just them telling us to fuck off.

That's nuts. It's going for $25 CND at London Drugs here in Vancouver.

Whoa. I bought that 3 album bundle for $36 including shipping from them 2 years ago.
So yeah... popmarket has clearly made a decision about Canadian customers: They don't want any.

$50 to Canada is outrageous. I could send the same thing to the US for under $20, tracked, and it would arrive within a week. Anyway, I got a lame reply from popmarket, simply saying that shipping charges are too high to offer free shipping anymore.... which completely ignores the point, which is why it's $50. If it were a normal price I wouldn't care. I don't know wtf they think they're doing, using a service that is that expensive (or just ripping us off by tacking $30 onto a normal shipping price).

For us Canadians, there is no point anymore to buy from Pop Market ever again with their outrageous shipping prices. You are better off to have a friend in the USA buy it for you then let them ship it to you here in Canada. You will get it cheaper & must faster if you choose this route.

The thing I've never gotten about Canada shipping is places that ship for free to the US charge the full cost of shipping (and then some) to ship to Canada. If they're going to offer free US shipping, why not only charge the difference to Canadians?

If shipping is $50 are they shipping by courier or something? I don't get why they wouldn't use usps?

Yeah London Drugs here does too, but the particular record store I was in that day had a nice markup.

I tried ordering Pinkerton off of Popmarket today, $45 box with $48 shipping!

    I'm done with them.
