I downloaded hundreds of songs on an iPod Nano to listen to while I was in the hospital, and recovering from surgery in November and beyond.
I just figured out how to use it. HahahaThere is no such thing as leftover pizza. There is now pizza and later pizza. - anonymous

This gave me something to think about.shetellsherself said:Anybody want to psycho-analyze this one? Why does it piss me off so much when mother uses the words "I'm so proud of you!" in response to me telling her about something (anything) I accomplished? It really bugs me to the point that I feel actually physically uncomfortable and I want to end the conversation entirely as soon as possible. I don't even want to share anything with her. I'm not looking for recognition or congratulations from her. In a way I feel like that by her saying she has pride in me, she is somehow still trying to stake her claim on a piece of my accomplishment. It's not fucking about her for once.
Please don't let me do this to my own kids.
You seem to have a complicated relation to your mother..tell her how you feel when she says things like that.she should be happy that you share your honest feelings with her.

You are right about this relationship being complicated. I wish I could tell her how I feel but that conversation quickly turns upside down. I do think it would be worth a try though. Maybe when I'm not in the thick of the emotion of the moment I can bring it up.Annafalk said:

went to get blood drawn today...had the most insensitive person attempt to draw blood. my veins have always been tricky, but with some patience normally it's not a big issue. dude stuck me 3 separate times, the last one being the most pain i've ever felt while having blood drawn, to no avail, and just wasn't thinking about the right course of action. then he was telling me about all the things he should have done instead (i.e. smaller needle, shoulda just been more patient and gotten it on the first try). something about the whole experience just really shook me up, and i left upset and crying. they told me to come back another day, but hell fuckin no. i will wait til i go to my actual doctor in a month."Sometimes you find yourself having to put all your faith in no faith."

It's raining and whenever it rains i always think/sing in my head 'and rain will make the flowers grow". Gotta get tickets for the Les Miz revival while it's still on - love that play. However, I hate my 20 year old love seat which is a putrid rose type color, broken and uncomfortable - I am going to finally buy my first couch - i think it's about time.
This is tricky, not knowing the dynamics of your particular mother/daughter dysfunction (there is always some button we push in each other). I would love to hear that from my mom more, I usually get feedback when there's disapproval or disappointment - been that way since i was a kid and now i have my own kid, still the same. Do you feel like she's being sarcastic or disingenuous? There has to be something that makes you recoil at being told someone is proud of you. Do you feel like you don't deserve praise? Was she not there for you and so you don't feel she has the right to comment on anything good that you have made of yourself? I hope that you tell your kids that you are proud of them when they accomplish small and large things. It should feel good. Just taking a shot here. :xshetellsherself said:Anybody want to psycho-analyze this one? Toured a new apartment this weekend and intend to sign on it this week. Wondering if not having a roommate is a mistake...
