So I have a project carbon ii turntable. and was wondering what is the best type of matting to use. I currently use a felt mat which came with the player this seems ok but collects a lot of dust, hair and crap etc affecting playback. I understand there are also cork and rubber mats available too. What are your preferences is one better than the other? I also heard no mat is necersary but i wouldnt trust putting my vinyl straight on a metal platter.
thanks for your feedback

I swapped my felt one out for a music hall cork one. It does a good job of staying put, doesn't seem to hurt the back side of the record at all. I got it mostly because I had a lot of static build up on the feld... I am still chasing down some static but that this seems to help. I have a Music Hall 5.1 which is real close to the Project so I'd expect you to get about the same results. Below is where I got it from
