PEARL JAM FAN HAIKU CONTEST! Prizes: PJ vinyl!! 1st place gets a Red LB! **WINNERS** on pg 11.
Sometimes it's fun to have a contest! And I have some vinyl that doesn't and will never get used. Sooooo......
This is the "PEARL JAM HAIKU CHALLENGE". Post your original Pearl Jam related haiku(s) in this thread. Use your imagination (or don't, lol). As long as the theme is somehow Pearl Jam or 10C related and in the true form of a haiku poem, anything goes. It can be about the music, the band, the fan club, the fans, your own PJ experience in one way or another, whatever. Funny, sad, sarcastic, beautiful, ugly, weird, hard, soft, silly, polite, crude, whatever - my mind is open. Prizes aside, it will be fun to see what everyone comes up with! Be creative! And if you aren't interested in any of the prizes, please, post some poetry anyway for entertainment's sake (yours and ours), and just say that you're not entering the contest.
A haiku is a three line poem with five syllables in the first line, seven in the second, and five in the third. I'm going to be a stickler about it, but that is the only rule. I think haikus are traditionally about nature and how it affects the human condition. But this time it's about Pearl Jam and the human condition I guess.
I will pick the three that for some reason I think are the best ones. Yes, I'm judge and jury, lol. But I promise to be a very FAIR judge and jury. It is not easy to get the feeling or experience of your sentiments into three little lines, but that is what I'll be looking for, and that challenge is also the fun of it!
Contest will close MAY 14TH, so you have loads of time to come up with some good haikus, and I'll announce a winner no later than May 16th. YES, you can enter more than one Haiku, BUT you can only win once. If you happen to submit three that I think are the best, I'll pick the best out of three and move on to other people's poems (and you will be grand master of haikuing).
THE PRIZES:
This will be first win, first serve. The winner gets to pick from 1, 2, or 3, runner up picks from what's remaining, and third place gets the remaining prize.
#1:
Red Lightning Bolt with the bells and whistles (opened, obviously, played once to see if it's fucked up (It's not!), and it didn't come with a postcard)
#2:
Vitalogy reissue (opened, played once)
Eddie Vedder RSD 2012 7"
Shadow 10"
#3:
2004 Xmas single
2009 Xmas single
2011 Xmas single
2013 Xmas single (sorry, lol)
(all the singles and the Shadow 10" are unplayed)
NOTE: This contest is open to the whole world, BUT I can't afford to ship this stuff overseas, so if you're outside of Canada and the US and win, please be willing to pay for the INSANE shipping cost. Thank you and sorry about that.
This is all for fun! Show everyone your badass haikuing skills. :-B I am really looking forward to seeing what people come up with! Thank you to all who enter!

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata
