what's the best show (pearl jam and non-pearl jam) that you missed? lets try to keep it to having tickets and not being able to make it or something along those lines.

for me:

pearl jam - seattle 7.22.98 - went to the first night and had tickets in my little hands but being i was without a drivers license at the time i couldn't get downtown to see them.

non pearl jam would have to be ryan adams. had tickets for the show last night in salem. i'm so horribly crushed that i missed it. horribly horribly crushed.

Friends didn't get me Brixton (that's London) 93 tix because they didn't have room in there parents car (we we're 15) and they didn't think that I could get the train. Anyway I by the time I called up they we're sold out. Then another friend suggests we go see them support Neil Young at Finsbury Park and I'm like, who's that old guy, I wanna see a full set, so I passed the offer. Who'd know that 2 years later Neil Young would blow my mind at Phoenix festival and ever since I've loved his music.

    Possibly Düsseldorf '07.

I was debating whether to go or not, decided not to in the end. After reading the setlist and fanviews, I wish I'd gone.

For what it's worth, I had Vic tickets inside of 5 minutes with my Mac and a basic cable connection. I did hear the horror stories of the super-computers with T1 lines and still no luck. Sorry for you all (really) but it was great for me.

Anyway, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in the day (early 70's), Led Zep was coming to Cincinnati and my friends and I had been in a Ticketmaster line for hours and hours in Columbus. 10 am rolls around, they open the window, their computer crashes and, 10 minutes later, the tickets are sold out before we even get a chance. I said it then and I'll say it now - "FUCK ME!!!"

Had 10C tickets to Irvine #1 in 2003. My girlfriend's grandpa died a week before the show, and we had to travel up to San Francisco for the funeral. I ended up giving away (for free) the tickets to two lucky Pit members...I don't remember who they were, but they said the show was epic. Sounds pretty awesome on the boot, too!

Non-PJ? I had a chance to see Nirvana my freshman year in high school. I had to pass it up because my parents weren't cool with letting me go. A few months later Kurt was dead. I should have just snuck the fuck out my window.

There were 2 that stand out in my mind.

    #1 - 1992-01-02 No set list
It was a school night and I was a sophomore in high school. A friend had a ticket for me, I had homework and my parents wouldn't let me go.
This is when they opened for RHCP and Nirvana

    #2 - 1992-05-17 Portland, Oregon Roseland Theater
Set 1 Oceans, Even Flow, Why Go, Jeremy, Deep, Alive, Black, State Of Love And Trust, Improv (I'm Not Crazy)/Once(Owner of a Lonely Heart)/(Happy Birthday)/Porch
    Encore 1 Suggestion, Garden(School's Out)/(Outshined)/Leash
Encore 2 Angel, Rockin' In The Free World
notes: Just before 'Porch,' PJ sings 'Happy Birthday' to Dave, with a few opening bars of 'Owner of a Lonely Heart' played before. Ed starts chatting after 'Leash'...stuff about great audience, really nice to them, etc. Then he says, "It's Dave's birthday and he's gonna play guitar for the first time in front of people ever ... and usually when we play, I just let people know what's on my mind cuz, I dunno, it usually takes over. Tonight also is like the night that me and my girlfriend have been together for eight years. It's serious. It's probably the sole reason that I'm alive. But, ah, that's why I wanna stick around on earth. I don't ever wanna be an angel or nothin'. I wanna be right here with her and, ah, so let's try this song." Dave plays guitar while Ed sings 'Angel.' This is the first, of only a few times, that 'Angel' is played live.

    Same excuse as number 1

    Non PJ

Soundgarden in 1993. Snowy night at a small club. The roads were nasty and my friend had his little shitty vw rabbit and took off with another friend. They said there were about 10 - 20 people there because of the weather. This was during the Outshined tour. OUCH!

Atlanta 03... had tickets and a group of friends making the trip. Totally forgot what day it fell on and that I had already made a promise; it was Mother's Day and I told my Mom that I'd come back home and spend some time together. Turns out the show was awesome (I heard Crown of Thorns over a phone call), but in the end Mom wins out. Still would've been amazing to be there though
  • Columbus, 03. I had bought three tickets and sat them on top of my tv stand in an envelope that was unmarked. So, the day before the show, I was cleaning up for the PJ party and f##king threw them in the trash thinking they were junk mail. I was drunk as hell in a giant dumpster going through bags of trash searching for the tickets for hours to no avail. Needless to say I missed the show and I have been a great party story for my friends to crack on for years now. Damn

That's funny...I had a chance to see the 1994 show at the Orpheum, but it was my brother's birthday so I couldn't go. I went to both the 7/3/03 show and the Hartford show in 1998 though (as well as 1996). I'm also bummed I missed the third Mansfield 2003 show, especially the acoustic pre-show. We had tickets offered to us and everything...

PJ: Bridge School '94. Had a ticket but my parents wouldn't let me go. A teacher from my high school was taking 4 other students but my parents said they didn't know the teacher and that was that.

NON PJ: Pete Townshend Filmore 1996. I spoke to a broker who was willing to hold a ticket for me for $250 (I didn't have a credit card yet) if I could make it from San Jose to S.F. in 45 minutes. Even though it was rush hour I was making decent time until I came upon the semi truck with its engine on fire. Complete standstill. I had to turn around and go home. Ended up getting the show on video but wish I could have been there to see Pete perform for over 2 hours at a small venue!!!

pearl jam-wise, i can't follow the 'had a ticket' rule. sorry. but during the canada tour, i didn't go to the london or hamilton shows, like most sane ontarians did. still got to see ottawa, kitchener and the t-dot.

non-pearl jam, i had tickets (seventh row floor) for the chili peppers. made it inside the venue. got kicked out before i made it to my seats. moral of the story: don't chug a veritable crapload of alcohol in a short time before a concert.

    Hershey 2003.

Had the tickets but my car's transmission died in Boston. After attending Boston III, 2003, I really didn't care much about Hershey. But, it did suck being on a bus back to Indiana that night instead of at a concert.
