    Alone, is much better live.

The original, pre-Lost Dogs studio version rocks.

I think almost everyone would agree that 90% or more of the entire catalog sounds better when performed live vs. the studio versions. I was just thinking of a few that are some of my favorite songs, but almost never listen to the studio cuts:

I agree although not all Songs Most of them I prefer to listen to them Live :)

I just listened to the Orpheum '94 boot and that version of "Blood" is amazing. I also love the Bennie version of "Fatal."

"Pendulum" was a great opener on this tour. Hearing Ed's deep voice coming out of the darkness gave me goosebumps!

HALF FULL...kinda "mellow" on RA, but there are some great live versions out there. Bonnaroo comes to mind.,,,

I am SHOCKED no one has said Do The Evolution. Unless if I've just missed it.

    Others:

    Immortality
    Present Tense
    Red Mosquito
    Betterman

In general, I think No Code and Yield sound better live.

    Ones that are worse:

    Release
    I Got Id

I think alot of people are mistaking energy for passion.

I think most stuff from Ten, Vs and Backspacer benefits from the live treatment, but the Vitalogy through Riot Act stuff just has so much more vibe, nuance and atmosphere on the albums.

I think most of their songs translate well to either format, b/c the type of band they are, but I appreciate the artistry and work that goes into perfecting a studio track.

It's Evolution, Baby! Comes to mind right off the bat.
Wash in Cleveland 2010 beats the studio version without question. When I played the boot for my friend he said "this is my new favorite Pearl Jam song"
    I found my place......and it's alright

Surprised no one has mentioned In My Tree. Love it both studio and live, but live it's like it has another dimension.
I also think in many versions Porch is better live.
You Are is MUCH better live. Again, a whole other dimension comes out.

Corduroy is way better live for sure. I'd throw in Alive too . . . and Better Man.

I prefer Immortality in concert too. A few others I can think of that seem to do it more for me live than in studio:

    Insignificance
    Rearview
    The Fixer
    DTE

But yeah, I wouldn't say 90% of them are better live. A few songs that are "better" in studio for me are:
    Most of Ten
    Daughter
    Elderly Woman
    Indifference
    Tremor Christ
    Fathfull
    Hail Hail
    In My Tree
    In Hiding
    Sleight Of Hand
Thumbing My Way and most of Riot Act
    Force Of Nature
    Amongst The Waves
    Sirens...........

    Got Some
Mind Your Manners (even though I think the studio version is awesome too)
    Bu$hleaguer
    God's Dice
    Amongst the Waves
    Given to Fly
    Faithful

......... This could be a really long list. Would be better to ask which songs sound better on the album than they do live.
