Is Mansfield 7-11-2003 better than Benaroya Hall 2003?

Do you mean Mansfield 7/11/03 (that was the acoustic set included and the longest show)?

I was at all 3 Mansfield shows that year, and for me 7/3 (opened with Release, played a lot of Yield, the Patriot, etc) was the best one. The energy was unbelieveable and it may be the best PJ show I've been to.

7/11 was great, but having Sleater Kinney sing the last few songs with Ed was a downer...Not a Sleater Kinney fan.

7/2 is probably my least favorite PJ show I attended.

Mansfield 2? I wouldn't really compare them to be honest, completely different shows. Mansfield 3's acoustic show is obviously cool and the whole thing is an event but Benaroya Hall gets my vote.

If Mansfield 7/11 was pressed on four 180 gram marble green LP's with an edition of 1000 & signed by the whole band, then yes. THAT would have a a slight bit better rating then the Benaroya Hall vinyl release.. :bz

Benaroya is better than Boston 3 but Penn St and the Spectrum beat both of them.

Yes, by a wide margin. Acoustic PJ just feels like wimpy PJ the majority of the time. If they did some rearrangements or they had a more layered sound their unplugged sets would be much more interesting.

The hype around Benaroya is largely based on the vinyl release/value.

I love Bennie. Don't care what anyone says. I know the entire show by heart. Fuck ups and all.

I prefer the Mansfield acoustic set to the Gorge 05 one and probably prefer both to Benaroya simply because every time I listen to it I get to a point where I just want them to plug in and crank Go, Blood, DTE, etc. Acoustic PJ will always be great but I seem to prefer a smaller dose to a full show.

    Manchester MEN - 20/06/12. Manchester MEN - 21/06/12

Both fantastic for different reasons, but neither better than the MTV Unplugged.

... and yet, 7/2 was probably my favorite of the 3 (lots o' Riot Act) ... and 7/3 my least favorite of the three.

Setlist comparisons vary from person to person, from taste to taste ... thing is .. everyone has a top ten, a favorite show and it's a bit useless trying to make others conform to one, all approved "which is best?" list.

That's one of the best things about this band...so much to pick and choose from. Everyone has their favorite songs, albums, and setlists.

That 7/2 shows ending (last encore was Soon Forget, Bushleager, and Fuckin Up) could have been a lot stronger for my taste, but to each his own!

I actually like the Santa Barbara 06 acoustic set better than both. But Benny "sounds" better than all. And Mansfield is "technically" tighter.

Agreed. I have listened to this show so many times and can never get over how good it is.

Benny was great but its no Mansfield. I'd listen to Mansfield 10 times for every Benny listen.

I disagree. It's a very good game, but I think Donkey Kong is the best game ever.

For me, Benny is a great listen on a dreary weekend afternoon. Mansfield is a great listen for knocking out work at the office. Gorge 1, 2006 is perfect for a long drive, and Seattle 2, 2000 is about as good as it gets.

No, the hype was around the intimacy (2,500 seats) and phenomenal acoustics of the venue. That and it was the first full acoustic show that Pearl Jam ever played outside of the Bridge School Benefits which made it unique.

I say yes, but I am highly biased as I had amazing seats for Mansfield.

Not sure we will ever all agree on which is better but I think most would agree they are both pantheon shows for this band.

The best/wost thing about Mansfield is that there appears to be zero video of the show and very few pictures. I would die to see some video of that show.

It's certainly a lauded show, but it's legend is most definitely tied in with the scarcity of the vinyl.
