Thank you. My trusted Technics 1210 MK2 and currently breaking in the Ortofon 2M Blue PnP. I have four turntables and three of them are in the attic...Aiwa (early 1990s) Toshiba (I think 1981) and BSR MacDonald (I think 1972)... they are still working to this day
I love the sound from BSR and plays all three speeds 33/45/78 but don't have the stylus for it but I should get around to get one early 2014 and a place in New Zealand sells em. I have noticed yours is a Philips... looks old but I am curious about it. I find it very interesting when I see other people's turntables in their homes and online.smarchee wrote:...0 -

yeah, I have a Phillips PU 3508 Direct Drive, definitely from the 1980s, but still doing the trick.

I prefer direct drive turntables than belt driven because it makes it easier for me not to scope around looking for the right size belt when needing a replacement and if a direct drive turntable dies in me… Then I am lumbered till I find another one.
Also I love vintage Hi-Fi stuff as they are unique with age. My technics hi-fi is 1996 (TT is a 1998 re-issue) and still going strong… touch wood. The saying goes older the tech the more robust it is. There’s a pioneer receiver that was released in 1980 and it’s meant to be the best one ever made and I am currently looking for it.
I think you should stick with the turntable you have or get a direct driven one as your next TTsmarchee wrote:lanoisseforp wrote:I have noticed yours is a Philips... looks old but I am curious about it. I find it very interesting when I see other people's turntables in their homes and online.

thats a rare vinyl. im only missing that and deloused and i have all of the volta vinyls.
huh. i picked it up a couple weeks ago in the used bin for $30. it said "rare, oop" on the sticker (i knew most volta lps aren't in print, so that part wasn't a surprise), but at $30 seemed to not be too rare. if it is that hard to find, i consider myself lucky.
it's the only volta lp i have. i regret not ever getting frances.0 -
