Bad Band pictures
Granted, Eddie and Mike are smiling, and the photo is appearing to be quite light-hearted, but maaaaaaaaaaan if THIS was the best shot these 5 guys could come up with... hahahahah... that's bad.
I mean.... Look at Ament; turned away from Ed as if he's putting on a poutty face - just WEEEEEEEEEIRD photo I thought.

Excuse me, Mr. Gossard. But you have a bolt of lightning protruding from your scalp.

Matt: "Ed, did you stick that thing in Stone's head?"
Ed: (smirks) "Ffffuck no, man, it wasn't me!"
Mike: (stiffling a laugh and thinks to self "I'm not tellin'")
Jeff: (Kind of lost in a day dream thinking about Montana while watching a pair of bugs getting it on.)

COMPLETELY agree with this guy/gal. Most people gloss over promotional images, just thinking it's part of the norm, but actually THINK about what's going on here... 5 adults are being asked to pose by a background that's been selected, asked to look a certain way, laugh, look into the distance, give me angst, etc. And you can bet MANY photos are being taken. You think they got this pic in one shot? 10 shots? 20? It's just SO unnatural to me, to think of the "behind the scenes" of these images. Yes, it's part of the game, but when you think of what's really happening here it's a lil weird. Every time I see band photos where bandmates are just laughing, having a good ol' time, I can't help but wonder... How real can that be? Capturing a moment like that in a staged setting? Hmmm.
Anyhoo... I'm over-analyzing. It's just some photos, right?!
Awesome Leeze! THIS NEEDS TO BE ON A T-SHIRT!!!!!! WOW! :fp:

Just like the guys in your sig :P
I agree with what somebody else said, it must be hard to pose for a picture, especially as a group. But if you are a good photographer you might know what you have to do in order to get what you want. The pic I posted earlier is the shittiest PJ pic I know. All of them look weird in there. Bad photographer with a really bad eye.
SO BAAAAAADDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!! I LOVE IT!
well, the guys in the picture in my signature aren't purposely wearing t shirts of bands to give them instant "cred". or writing underground legends on their arms. I find this to be especially odd for ed. Dave A makes sense.
but yes, it is odd to take group pictures. for the pictures we took of my band for our ep, we all looked like losers in every one of them. trying too hard, not trying hard enough, etc. it was hard to strike a balance. it's easier to get a photog to go out with you and just take random shots so it looks like you don't know the camera is even there. posing shots all look really weird, no matter the band.

 I could never pose for something like that. I'm not very photogenic...
And your pic looks good, I was just messing with you. I hope you know that
I think so too, I like the recent ones
On our wedding day, we had a half hour posing session outside in the blazing heat :fp: It was fun though and they turned out okay. The photographer knew what she was doing
I think that's a great shot of Stone, actually.
Posing for pictures sucks... Yea, it does!
But... If those pictures helped you to make millions and millions of dollars, I'm sure that would take away some of that "uncomfortableness"
PJ has always looked off in band photos... Live photos is the way to go!
So that leads to two questions...
Why aren't they using a photo of them playing live, to advertise the band, ya know, playing live?
And if this is a thread about bad band photos.. Where is the one with them posing in front of all the corporate logos and American flag??
