"They're very personal songs to Ed and to me," Cooper says. "I forged a close relationship with him through the movie and it's probably better kept between us. Sad to say, for Eddie Vedder fans, as we all are."9/13/1998 - 9/15/1998 - 8/29/2000 - 7/2/2003 - 7/3/2003 - 7/11/2003 - 9/28/2004 - 9/28/2005 - 5/13/2006 - 5/27/2006 - 6/1/2006 - 6/28/2008 - 6/30/2008 - 5/17/2010 - 10/25/20130

Well it only took 8 years to get him to release the Uke album....let's he how long this one takes.0

I think in our lifetimes this might get released. Lets just look forward to it, when the time is right.

what about the re-recording Ed did with 'RELEASE'?
I would love to hear this version. Will that be available to hear anywhere?0 -

But then he did Cooper one better. He suggested re-recording the song for the first time in over two decades to afford a rendition rich with all the life experience he, now a father, had acquired in that time. He even tweaked the song's lyrics from "Dear Dad, can you see me now?" to "Dear Rod, can you see me now?," further embedding the musical identity of the film in the perspective of Russell Baze.1996: Randall's Island 2 1998: East Rutherford | MSG 1 & 2 2000: Cincinnati | Columbus | Jones Beach 1, 2, & 3 | Boston 1 | Camden 1 & 2 2003: Philadelphia | Uniondale | MSG 1 & 2 | Holmdel 2005: Atlantic City 1 2006: Camden 1 | East Rutherford 1 & 2 2008: Camden 1 & 2 | MSG 1 & 2 (#25) | Newark (EV) 2009: Philadelphia 1, 2 & 4 2010: Newark | MSG 1 & 2 2011: Toronto 1 2013: Wrigley Field | Brooklyn 2 | Philadelphia 1 & 2 | Baltimore 2015: Central Park 2016: Philadelphia 1 & 2 | MSG 1 & 2 | Fenway Park 2 | MSG (TOTD) 2017: Brooklyn (RnR HOF) 2020: MSG | Asbury Park 2021: Asbury Park 2022: MSG | Camden | Nashville 2024: MSG 1 & 2 (#50) | Philadelphia 1 & 2 | Baltimore 2025: Raleigh 20 -
It was the director who cut them out...mdgsolo wrote:Directors cut? One can hope..."Mostly I think that people react sensitively because they know you’ve got a point"0 -
You can tell is a different version on the trailer for the movie...but it sounds close...damn close to the original. A few months ago when I first watched the trailer, I could tell something just sounded different...but it didn't sound like 2012/2013 Ed. In fact, it really didn't hit me that it was different until he went way higher on the outro chorus like he has done in recent years. It's definitely killer.0

I havent liked the rerecorded versions of their other tunes (like for Lost Dogs) but this Release sounds intense. Love how Ed goes higher.0

Release sounded really raw, like they stripped all the effects of the original release, and that helped considerably. But indeed right when his pitch raises on that note, its clear its on his newer influence of singing it, which works so well.
I was surprised when I heard it in the trailer. I thought "Oh man, he sold another song to another movie like on "Better Days" for "Eat, Pray, Love", which from my understanding that film was not worthy of his contribution.
I'm glad to hear this was an artistic decision that I hope is worthy of EV's crown jewel song.ADD 5,200 to the post count you see, thank you.

Jesus Christ, I wish I hadn't heard about this. I didn't even know about this movie or Ed's contributions to it till just now. Ignorance was bliss.0

Seriously, so ridiculous! People love petitions around here, this deserves a petition.
Um, this art is too good, so we're not gonna release it. Unreal!
Come on Ed, solo album, please.Found: Soundgarden Hyde Park DVD (Thank you for the gift!)

I think I read somewhere that the director said it will be in the beginning of the movie. Where Christian Bale is driving and listening to the song on the radio?I miss igotid880 -

Doesn't sound like it will be anymore. This is horrible! Not just the new Release, but we just lost out on a new Eddie solo album. I thought Into The Wild had some of his best material, and this may have been up there as well. Too bad
