At least she didn't try to jump on stage and grope him like those other girls did. ;)

Yeah, the jumping on stage thing is scary too!!! I mean, if Ed's reaching out to the crowd by all means reach and and shake his hand or something because that's why he's doing it -- but from the sounds of these recent threads, the chicks would try and pull Ed OFF the stage and smother his head in their cleavage!!!!

You have no idea why she was crying....what the letter said (she only mentioned bits of it).
Just because PJ and Ed don't evoke any of these emotions in you, doesn't mean these people are wrong or "sad". I actually feel sorry for the ones that haven't experienced these feelings that so many PJ fans have.....that don't feel the emotions.

That's why I said "I found" it sad....not "she is" sad.

I just don't cry over things like that....simple as that.

No! Some people get emotional over different things, is all :)

There's probably times when people think I have no soul......I rarely - not never, but RARELY, cry over sad things.....I've been through a LOT of shit in my years and have had to harden up a lot.....but on the other hand, I'm also a very emotional person....it's just that if I cry or shed a few tears, they're usually tears of joy these days :)

In a nutshell, I explained that I just graduated high school and in general I am disgusted by the amount of materialism and conformity in most other teenagers. I told him that his music saved me from this. I wrote that at the end of middle school I was headed down the same path- listening to pop music and obsessing over name brand clothes...until I heard Pearl Jam for the first time and was blown away. Then I used the phrase (which he read out loud) "4 years and 11 pearl jam concerts later.. I am a completely different person" I explained a couple other ways he changed my life that he read out loud. It was something like "Instead of listening to pop music on my ipod, I'm listening to albums like Quadraphenia on vinyl. Instead of watching tasteless reality TV, I'm playing guitar and writing music." And there was one more "instead" about voting but I forget the exact wording.

She was crying because Ed saved her from listening to pop music, obsessing over name brand clothes, now she listens to Quadraphenia on vinyl and does not watching crap tv.

I personally don't cry over things like that.

They're the best kind, though :)

I find the majority of my crying is over sad movies and Pearl Jam
And when I hit my head, or get yelled at.

    Aw hell, i'm a sook :D

In my honest opinion, you are a very dispassionate fan, and really have no idea what it means to really appreciate music.

Its just my opinion though

  • Well....at the end of the day, it looks like we all love PJ for different reasons :) ....one of the main reasons I love them, besides their music obviously, is that they have that power, which no other band has (for me) to evoke such amazing emotions.....enough to bring me to tears.

I know I'm not the only one here :o Sairs, you'll back me up....so would Brendan :)

Me too. I have been known to get a bit teary and / or get goose bumps listening to PJ. The Into the Wild songs have that effect on me too.

I don't find, apart from my immediate family, that ANYTHING gives me the same feeling that PJ give me.
