Infant in GA last night

Seriously, isn't that child abuse? If the parent was hitting the child it would be, but letting the child's hearing be destroyed isn't? No one in the crowd stepped up as an adult to help this defenseless kid out? Pathetic people concerned with missing Sirens or something.0

I think anyone who would bring a child under the age of 6 to an event like this should have their head examined. While 'child abuse' is a bit too strong of a term (unless there really was an infant with no hearing protection..........that defies logic) I do think it's pretty questionable decision making on the part of a parent. I also think most people on the forum generally agree with this sentiment, except for those on the extreme sides of the argument.
In my personal opinion, I think 10 or up should be the age, but that's just my opinion. I have no problem with a person bringing a 7 or 8 year old, it's just not something I would do.
PS, that toddler smoking a cigarette looks like a real dickhead, and I want to party with the kid in the mosh pit, he knows how to have a good time.0 -
My ears are super damaged due to an accident involving an explosion of gasses. I have a collapsed tolerance for sound (anything over 65dBs is uncomfortable and anything over 80 dBs is painful) and have had loud ringing in my ears 24/7 for twenty years. If any parent subjects their kid to sounds that could cause this kind of damage they should know what fucking hell they are inflicting on their child. Not fucking cool."It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0

Yes, because I believe, if I'm not mistaken, one member of Pearl Jam stands at each gate deciding who is allowed in and who is not. That actually acquired Boom because some venues have 6 entrances.0 -

Some might say that today's infants are babied too much. Just saying.

I'm upset to read that security allowed an infant in without ear protection (that the parent shouldn't be a parent is obvious, so no point in talking about the blame there). My main concern is that an infant's hearing almost certainly was permanently damaged the other night. I think that concert venue staff should not have allowed this idiot to commit an act of child abuse on the floor..... I'm a little disappoint that the mother wasn't shouted right out of the place too. That baby needed people to try and protect it since its mother wasn't...... Unless, of course, the baby was born deaf, which I suppose is possible. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0

How do you know there were no lasting effects? Also, weren't those usually outdoor shows? Way different because it's not nearly as loud.scratched vinyl wrote:Get_Right wrote:But a lot of babies attended shows in the 60s and 70s with no long term effects.

Because without it, this whole thread is fake and just trying to stir the pot because someone was losing ground in the other thread this was discussed in.
Where is the evidence of this infant in the pit?
I saw the infant. They were escorted out midway through the show.
Incidentally, not the first infant I've seen in front at a PJ show. At the 10th anniversary show in Vegas in 2000, I was sitting in the second row and a couple in the front row had a baby. I told them they needed to get the baby ear protection and they didn't seem concerned. Distracted me during the show because I was so concerned for the child. Must be a PJ thing, I've seen Springsteen over 200 times and never seen anyone bring an infant.0 -
Oh, good to hear they were escorted out... too late for the kid's hearing of course, but at least someone clued in.Luckytwn1 wrote:JH6056 wrote:Sooo... 4 pages in, and has anyone actually confirmed the existence of an ACTUAL INFANT in the pit last night? I saw a woman with an infant at the Missoula show. It did have hearing protection, but it didn't fit properly. Security looked concerned, but let her stay anyway. There was also a toddler with her. :fp: I was really glad that she kept going when she passed me and I couldn't see her, because I would have been the same as you. I wouldn't be able to enjoy the show because I'd be too concerned about the baby.... but... out of sight, out of mind, apparently. :oops:With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. And there you have it, an eyewitness who SAW the infant in GA. So the phantom baby does exist.0 -

My 10C is 5 digits and I was in the front rows of the closest 10C section to the stage by Stone. I saw them come in with the baby and then during the show, at some point the baby had been given ear protection, because I saw the father lifting the baby in the air right in front of me and the baby had headphones that didn't fit. At some point after, they opened the side security gates and the couple was escorted out with the baby. I did not see them return but obviously I was focused on the show. I would have preferred not to see it at all but they were right in front of me so it was hard to miss.0 -
They were being led to the room that stores all the tambourinez0

This may be a whole new topic but why would anyone in their right mind bring a DEAF baby to a PJ concert?? Seems like a waste of time for that baby?Pit 10/11/13

Just to save money on the babysitter... or to grow their pick collection.
Anyway, my guess is that she got escorted out because security had a bunch of complaints about her being in there with an infant. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0 -
