There you have it, folks. Keep on rockin.
Interesting...
Too bad with the timing of all these eyewitness reports. If this is real, yes, I'm horrified too. But I still don't think it's real. Report of this from another source needed to have occurred BEFORE the legitimacy of this was questioned and the lack of an actual report somewhere else noted.
No apology coming from me, but at least know that should this have actually happened, I think it's awful too. Especially without earplugs or headphones? Ridiculous.
Glad it isn't real.

Definitely do not post that photo. At the least it will violate the board's rules and it will get removed and you'll get bitched at if not banned. At the worst the woman finds out about it and tries to take legal action against the forum which is a headache I doubt the admins would appreciate.NYC 06/24/08-Auckland 11/27/09-Chch 11/29/09-Newark 05/18/10-Atlanta 09/22/12-Chicago 07/19/13-Brooklyn 10/18/13 & 10/19/13-Hartford 10/25/13-Baltimore 10/27/13-Auckland 1/17/14-GC 1/19/14-Melbourne 1/24/14-Sydney 1/26/14-Amsterdam 6/16/14 & 6/17/14-Milan 6/20/14-Berlin 6/26/14-Leeds 7/8/14-Milton Keynes 7/11/14-St. Louis 10/3/14-NYC 9/26/15

Him: U won't believe this shit there's a woman with a baby right behind us that breast feeding it right now.
WTF??????????????
Me: Stop. Stop. Stop.
Him: (sends pic, don't wanna be graphic but woman with flannel shirt wide open, full nipple, baby on hip {no sling that I can see})
Me: (vomiting in mouth) Holy f*ck mother.
So, given the accounts and this I'd say, even though I was not there, a baby was in the pit about 2-3 back from stone. No further opinions offered on my end.
Well, I Guess if you got thirsty in the Pit, you would not have to go too far...
wait, I think I just went too far... :fp:
Yet another reason why security should be handing out water to people in the pitt! Infants cannot go the entire show without something to drink folks! This is unacceptable! The US is the only country that doesn't seem to care about infants!!!!!!!0 -
What you're doing there is the classic logical fallacy of appealing to authority incorrectly. Muhammad and Nietzsche are a prophet/messiah and a philosopher, respectively. Why that makes them quotable sources for an argument that 'children don't belong at a Pearl Jam show' is beyond me - simply put, they are not relevant authorities in the matter.backseatLover12 wrote:JH6056 wrote:austin.macrae wrote:Babygate Update: just texted eye witness for update, he reports baby and mom were removed from the pit and baby given ear plugs about "a third of the way in" to the show.

In addition, it's astounding to me how many times you can make the same statement over and over again, all the while everyone here responds with legitimate rebuttals to your nonsensical blanket statement that "children don't belong at Pearl Jam concerts", and you proceed to ignore them and reiterate your 'evidence-based' opinion (largely based on the fact that an infant was in the crowd at a Pearl Jam concert without hearing protection - which, as far as I'm concerned, is a much better case for the idea that one should require a license to have a baby, as it says a hell of a lot more about parents).

It is not my fault how someone perceives me, it is all on the shoulders of the perceived. If you're getting upset, then maybe ask yourself why my opinion upsets you. Because your and everyone else's doesn't upset me, they're just like assholes.
And my quotes above were in regards to JH6065 not believing that there was an infant at the show. So get your panties out of a bunch.

Totally, completely agree 100%, but as you can see, save your breath because it has no impact. But I've gotten a few PMs, at least you can know others see what's going on.0 -

Wait, so this same baby is also one of the List People?? Well, really, clearly then he's mature enough and savvy enough to take on serious responsibility. I'm pretty sure he could hold his own in the pit.
And people say kids grow up too fast these days... but obviously this baby is striking just the right balance between enjoying baby-hood and getting in some real-life experience... "Parent of the Year" awards all around, I say!

I saw two infants, one had hearing protection, the other not. Even with hearing protection, who the hell brings small babies to loud rock concert? this one was right in front of the subs, so even if it was getting some ear protection, that kid was getting rocks with bass.0

Baby was real
Security saw it and wouldn't do anything
Mother's uterus should be yanked out through her throat0 -
So if something happened to the baby - what would Pearl Jam do?
I realize there is a libertarian element to this whole topic - in a perfect iTopian fantasy, hipsters bring their babies to rock concerts and breast feed them. Then when the concert is over, they get back on their Amsterdam style hand-made bicycle and ride back to their urban eclectic hamlet dwelling to eat vegetables they raised themselves.
But in the world the rest of us live in, if that baby catches an elbow in the face and dies - aside from the obvious tragedy to the child and their family - what's that going to make PJ look like? or the venue?
Who wants to be the band/venue associated with a baby dying at their concert?
I realize that's a disturbing scenario to even bring up. Thank GOD nothing happened to this baby. But babies in Gen Admission pits? Really? Where does this go from here? This sets a terrible precedent.
What easily foreseeable tragedy needs to happen before people wake the fuck up and realize this is a terrible idea?
Who the hell is insuring these events?
Pearl Jam went from Roskilde, and swearing against general admission shows all together, to now not only doing GA, but allowing babies in GA?
I don't agree with the toddlers in GA thing; but at least at least a 5 year old kid's skull is no longer soft. And 5 year olds have developed limbs. But babies?
Someone at least set an age limit at like 4 years old or something.
This is fucking ridiculous.This is a birthday pony0 -
DP13 wrote:In LA I had a few drinks at the show and accidentally tripped and fell on a kid in the merch line. I felt so bad, he was only about eight years old and was all decked out in PJ gear. I've never felt so bad in my entire life. I get shivers just thinking about how ignorant I was, and I would give absolutely anything to be able to erase that moment from history. The kid was holding a poster too, and it kind of got crushed. As I am laying on top of this child, I hear who I assume is his Dad screaming "Irreplaceable, Irreplaceable", then he reached down and pulled the poster out from underneath his kid's bloody hands. The Dad had tears in his eyes, he told me how he needed to flip that poster on eBay in order to pay for the three copies of Sevens he needs to complete his vinyl collection that he keeps in a storage locker, about a block from where he works. We got to talking and it came out that I have a better 10c number, and better seats. So, to pay him back for the poster he agreed that I would hold his son up on my shoulders for the entire show... and whatever pics, tambourines, wine bottles, etc. that I got from EV would go directly to this guy's "Sevens Fund". I thought that was a pretty fair deal, but as it turns out the little guy ended up dying from the head trauma caused by my fat ass falling on him... bummer. Gonna start a thread in the pit requesting that the guys play Comeback for the little boy in Spokane.
I laughed. But felt really guilty about it. Where did you get your creative writing degree?Pit 10/11/13
