Caravan for PJ Shows: Portland--->Spokane--->Seattle

Anybody interested?

We can help each other out if need be, some are making the drive for the first time, and I would hate for someone to get stuck and not have anybody around to help them.

I have an app on my phone called Waze (on Apple and Android-yay!), it gives you real time traffic updates and notifications of road hazards reported by other users. It allows you to see other users on the map in your general location, it has a 'map chat' function-so you can chat with other people, and you can create a 'group' and see how far away other people in your group are.

Here is more info on the app: https://www.waze.com/

So far nothing ***official***, just seeing if there is enough interest to organize something. You don't have to be driving the entire route, even if you just want to join in for a part of the trip.

This is what we have so far:

I will be checking this site to see which route I will take: http://www.tripcheck.com
Thinking about leaving PDX around 8 or 9am-ish

NEED A RIDE:
SOLAT319: PDX--->Spokane
vedderfan10: Portland--->Spokane--->Seattle (may have an extra GA Spokane)

WILLING TO GIVE A RIDE:
The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

I probably can't help with the Caravan as far as rides go. But I can download and update Waze. That would be cool.

  • What a great idea!

I got a crew in a similar situation but we're a little more disjointed and hitting different shows/events.

We have Portland on Friday, then one of our crew is heading to Spokane, we all meet up in Seattle for Monday Night Football before we head to the Vancouver show and return for the Seattle show.

Have a freaking blast, maybe we'll see you along the way!!

I may be able to squeeze you in our vehicle...deciding on which one to take. 4WD gas guzzler or the 4 cylinder gas sipper. ;)

Have you driven I-84 in the winter Mr Horos? Please share your experience!

That drive can be...how you say "the shits".

My hubby has done that drive multiple times though as he went to WSU and his family was in Vancouver WA. He feels that we're early enough in the season that it shouldn't be too bad. Of course, he's not a weather man, just a guy with an opinion. And he's wrong a lot.

    bump...anybody else interested?

apparently, someone likes to make plans without telling me, so I won't be going back to Seattle until Monday.

we might be up for it pdx - spokane, we'll be going to calgary after that.
hoping to leave quite early in the morning since we're GA for spokane, we were saying 7 am, but it'll depend on the evening before of course.

I'll ask the US people in our car to download the app - I won't have data access unless there's wifi, but I assume they can get the app on their phones. sounds like a good plan. :)

I should be able to help. Driving from PDX to Spokane, then back to PDX the day after Spokane. We're heading to Seattle from PDX in the middle of the following week. Not sure how much room I'll have, but should know soon. Have been talking to both Jenny & Jason abt a caravan.

We're doing Oakland, Portland, Spokane, Seattle but don't have any more room in the mini cooper. But maybe we can caravan.

    Hi Everyone!

I am coming from Australia for the shows and would love to get a lift in the caravan/car if there is room?

I'd need a lift from Portland to Spokane... I have booked the Greyhound from Spokane after the show to head to Seattle, but I am sure the lift option would be much nicer! :)

Please let me know what you decide as I will book a flight soon if this doesn't work... :)

    Thanks muchly!

I'm taking a flight from PDX to Spokane cuz I did not want the weather to phuck me up (I'm sure it will be ok for u guys driving).

But then I'm in a rental and trukin from Spokane back to Seattle on Sunday around noon for a few days before bouncing to BC.

If anyone needs a ride let me know. I'll split the gas with ya but you gotta bring the BUDZ. ;)

I just made the Seattle to Spokane drive this weekend. No weird weather. Snoqualmie pass was still pretty grassy, only a tiny bit of snow on the mountain. Also there were no major construction zones being worked on either.

Going to the Portland and Seattle shows, and this thread is now tempting me to try to make Spokane too.

Any chance on hitching a ride from Portland to Spokane and back to Portland? I'm taking an Amtrak from Portland to Seattle later in the week. I could pitch in for gas or perhaps offer a poster from my collection. I'd just be traveling solo.
  • Finally found this "Caravan of PJ-love" thread.

Looking forward to my final 5 road trip (Portland - Seattle and everything in-between).

Anybody looking for a ride and willing to chip in for gas: holler!
