Nothing mediocre about it all. It's classic kickass Pearl Jam. The more I listen to it, the more I like it.

Don't judge a song by a low quality bootleg. I didn't want to listen, but I gave each song one listen. For what it's with, LB seems like it kicks ass and FD doesn't do much for me, but I don't put much stock into that. Let's wait until the album comes out.
Was great hearing it on the Danny Clinch video. I think it's going to be my favourite.

It's been owning me for the past 24 hours! Listened to the studio version about 50x and, for me, it's the best PJ song in a long time. My bro and I have been waiting for a song like this since yield. It's classic PJ sound with "new" PJ composition. If u thought 90s PJ was dead this song brings it back to life. Don't judge from those fan boots...It's like 2 different songs.
"All the places where you would naturally go up to perk up a song or create a dynamic, he would almost consciously take it down and add tension. He'd avoid the obvious. It's less spoon-fed and less appealing at first, but you listen and go, 'Wow, there's a lot of dignity in that vocal."
"We try to do that as a band, take the less traveled route," he continues. "With 'Light Years,' Mike McCready had written some music. We were excited about it for a while, but when we got down to recording it, it was too nice, too right there - it was a little too close to 'Given to Fly.' We changed the tempos, and then one night Mike and I, after working on it all day and getting frustrated, just flipped it backwards, and in about 35 minutes it became 'Light Years,' with words and everything. It still has a fairly contagious chorus and melody, but it's just sideways enough to make me happy.""
Same here, but after giving it some thought those years still had songs I did not like as well like Breakerfall, God's Dice, and Evacuation. So if Ed is changing it up and writing faster and using the obvious, hopefully the same percentage of the music is great as before.
I love this tune, it is melodic and rocking at the same time
I am surprised by how many people aren't into it, when I first heard the live version the first thing I thought was "THIS is the kind of stuff that should have been on the last 2 albums"

To be fair.. the Wrigley version is no comparison to this studio version.

Good to know there are others who really like it. I liked it immediately after hearing just the Wrigley version so I knew it was going to be a winner.

I think both are pretty awesome, I like the studio version a lot but I really wish they let the jam at the end play out instead of fade out but it is a badass tune either way!

Like I mentioned in a previous post, it sounds like something me and a couple of friends coulda made up on the spot if handed a microphone and told to wail
- uninspiring; trite; and grossly devoid of pattern or rhythm-
these guys are pros....they know, and can do sooooo much better
they've proved they can
Wow. You and your friends must be musical geniuses or something to be able to do that. Cool. :P

I think the studio version may sound better than hearign it live. I didn't mind hearing it at Wrigley but didn't really stand out too much. Hearing it in the film sounded better to me :? Maybe i should go back and listen to some youtube clips of the Wrigley version.

You know the one he did during Satans Bed a long time ago where he does that little twist thing with his legs and moves his arms a lot.

I always do the Mike guitar whirl and point ala Pete Townsend.
I can't believe there are people on here criticising this song. It's such a great little rocker and fun to dance to.

After first hearing LB at Wrigley, I wasnt sure about it. After hearing the CD and live at charlotte, I love this song. Not my favorite, but I definitely don't skip it when it comes on.
I love this song. It makes me want to throw my arms in the air and scream FUCK YES!! Especially the intro and first verse. Brilliant.

Which is a good thing...love the both tunes...
