    Hi Lindsay,
I was right next to the cool couple behind you.
Watching the whole scene unfold right in front of me was super cool.
    I'm very happy for you.
This just adds to the list of reasons why we love this guy/band so much.

I knew it was you! When he started talking about a high school student named lindsay, I was like "I wonder if it's the girl that was posting in the college roommate thread." That's awesome. I could totally relate to what what you wrote to eddie. I'm much older than you, but if I hadn't gotten into pearl jam at age 13, I would be a completely different person.

I was also sitting a couple rows behind you. I could see you shaking a little :). I would have freaked out too!

And that was a smart move handing him that note! I never would have thought of it. Congrats on having the guts to do it.
  • Tears are coming to my eyes as I write this...

A few days ago I was having a daydream of running into Eddie and just shaking his hand and thanking him for his music & and the messages he conveys. He has contributed so much over the years and you know it truly comes from his heart & mind to do what he does.

My daughter is 12 about to go into 7th grade. She's an amazingly bright girl with so much potential and a born leader. She's a natural poet...she wrote poems in elementary school which absolutely floored her teachers.

Lately I've noticed her focus going towards designer handbags and clothes on Ebay, expensive cars, and a desire to watch total trash on TV (which I make her turn off...I'm about to throw the TV out the window). I can only hope it's a phase and she'll snap out of it...meanwhile we'll continue to play meaningful music (Pearl Jam/ITW of course! Along with the hundreds of albums we have on vinyl - yes, we have a turntable in our livingroom).

Not to ramble on, but your story gives me hope. My daughter came last night & was deeply moved by your story. May the voice of reason continue to trickle from our elders, down to those of my generation (I'm 5 months older than Ed ;) ), down to those graduating from High School...to those entering the tough middle school years and on & on.

So...one final comment - I cried so hard during that song. Your story, combined with how it truly, deeply touched Ed, sitting next to my daughter who is at a threshhold & listening to a song by an artist who had such an influence on me as I was gowing up filled me with so much emotion - I can't say which emotion it was because it was a recipe of numerous emotions. My daughter gave me lots of hugs & kisses for the remainder of the evening.

Lindsay...May you stay forever young :)

Ahh, the thought of him keeping it makes this all even more amazing. Again, I honestly thought it was a long shot that he would even read it, especially right away.

    I sent you a PM.

This is an awesome story, I'm glad you got to experience it :D
Ed is indeed a very nice person :)

"Instead of listening to pop music on my ipod, I'm listening to albums like Quadraphenia on vinyl. Instead of watching tasteless reality TV, I'm playing guitar and writing music. Instead of voting for the next American Idol, I'm making sure everyone my age is registered to vote for the next president"

well you're a little young, but I gota crush on you :)

    congrats on inspiring ed!! nutzzzzz!

that is absolutely amazing for you. I wish that I had (had) the outlook that you had at your age. I have it now, but it took a good 10 years longer...

I can say that I am a tad bit jealous, but in a good way. To have such an experience to carry with you will just reiterate and enforce that the direction you are heading is the right one!

    Good for you, girl!

Oh, and it's okay to be a hypocrit as long as you own upt to it at some point. I am glad you did!!! :)

    Take care,
I still want you all to "take care"--I am just damn tired of typing it.

A night that you'll never forget Lindsey. Well done!

As he was reading the note out last night, I wondered whether or not the author of it was in the audience, and when he dedicated the song to you, I suspected that you were.

All-time great story...wish I had been there last night instead of Friday!

Did your note include a request for PJ to finally play New Hampshire? ha

I don't get at all "star struck" in most cases...........

I can safely say that the experience you experienced would probably leave me in a coma of shock.

You deserve to have people know how wonderful you are in this world. We as humans usually don't take the time to see, much less express, the wonder of other human beings. To have a man in the position that Eddie is, recognize you, is just a step in the right direction.

Cherish this moment for what it is and be sure to pass it on to those that do not experience approval or genuine love from others. Pass it on.
  • Lindsay,

congrats again, I sent you a PM but, just wanted to say how increadable that is for you again!!!!

The fact that you impessed Eddie is so completely increadable...
