Thank you 10C for bringing back the GA Section

I wanted to personally thank the 10c for bringing back the GA section, and keeping it fanclub only. I joined the fanclub in 2003 and until this tour (ok, and the Vic in 2007), I never had a chance to be close to the band at all. My first 5 or 6 shows, the band were like ants from my seats. Lower 10c numbers and (at some venues) whoever could pay for the first 3 rows (rich people and celebrities) always got the best seats in the house. I was starting to lose hope that I would ever be close enough to even see a facial expression on any of the band member's faces. I always knew that if there was a GA section, I would at least have a chance to be close. Waiting in line for hours and standing the entire show was never a problem when the payoff is to be close to the band I love and the music I have endeared for the past 10 years. Even though my tenure isn't a long as other members, I greatly appreciate the chance to finally be close to the stage, surrounded by some of the best and most respectful fans in the country. I really, really hope the band keeps the 10c GA section for future shows and future tours. I think it is one of the best seating ideas to come around in years. Plus, I have to admit, having a GA floor area is FUN!!
I know how difficult of a decision this must have been for the band, but let me say that the crowds in the Pearl Jam pits are the most tame I've ever seen. Everyone is respectful of each others' space and no one had interest in moshing or crowd surfing. Also it looks like it is smartly planned that there is plenty of breathing room in the back so there is no chance anyone will get hurt. It really is a safe pit. The safest I have ever been in.
Again, thank you 10c for bringing back the GA section. It means a lot to us fans who just so happened not to get a membership in the 90s.
Much love,
Jenny

It's a good idea in theory, but it seemed to me that at least half of the people I spoke to from the GA section had scalped their ticket. There's really no way to track the member down who sold it because they're not assigned seats. If there's a dollar to be made people will take advantage of that. Glad you had FUN though.0

I think it's pretty cool too... to mix up who gets to be up front a bit. (I don't think the front 3 rows were full of rich people at PJ shows though.... 10c seemed to always get those seats..).
My concern would be.. can they pull this off more than once. Because senority doesn't impact GA.. anyone can enter the lottery. Meaning there's nothing stopping scalper's (or even fans) from buying multiple digital memberships to try and score more GA tickets.
It worked for one tour because people didn't they were going the GA route (Wrigley was a standalone up until that point).
It's pretty kickass but because anyone can enter the draw for it... I'm not sure if could do it twice? :(0 -

I don't see why this is a good argument to get rid of the pit. People scalp their seat tickets too, whats the difference? If the 10c really wants to prevent GA ticket scalping, the person at the ticket window should personally put the GA bracelet on the 10c member and their 2nd party. If you don't have a bracelet, no entry. Thats what they did at the Vic and it was a fantastic idea.DC '03 - Reading '04 - Philly '05 - Camden 1 '06 - DC '06 - E. Where did I say get rid of the pit? If people want to be packed in like sardines just to try and feel Eddie's sweat on their person then that's fine with me. If I were forced to purchase GA that would be a different story. I'm just saying that it's easier to sell the GA tickets to scalpers because it's harder to track the person down that sold them. People with assigned seats will think twice before selling above face because they know that they can be tracked.0 -

My mistake, you didn't say get rid of the pit, I was quick to jump to the defense.
Again I think the remedy is for the 10c window person to put the bracelets on each ticket holder. Also at Harford the 10c ticket window had its own entry. I would assume if someone got a GA ticket outside the venue and went through the regular entries, it would be obvious that they bought it scalped. Maybe they could even number the bracelets and link them to whoever bought the tickets? Just some ideas if the 10c sees this as a problem.DC '03 - Reading '04 - Philly '05 - Camden 1 '06 - DC '06 - E. I am too old to deal with the douche-baggery that occurs in GA. So all this has done for me is to make my seats worse. I guess someone's trash is someone else's treasure. I don't fault them for trying new things. I hope it reverts back in the future.Up here so high I start to shake, Up here so high the sky I scrape, I've no fear but for falling down, So look out below I am falling now, Falling down,...not staying down, Could’ve held me up, rather tear me down, Drown in the river0

Why does everyone think this is a GA pit from 1992? Everyone just stands in their own space and has a nice time. Theres no "douche-baggery". I'm sorry your seats won't be as awesome every show, mine don't have to be either but its nice to have 1 show where I can actually see the band and not get stuck behind all of the lower 10c numbers every single show.DC '03 - Reading '04 - Philly '05 - Camden 1 '06 - DC '06 - E. I hope they do a mix, one tour with GA like this one, and one like the good ole days. That way everyone still gets their shot, but the seniority is respected for some shows.www.twitter.com/robert_harbin0

I just wish they would go back to 2000 where a 10c member got tickets to 1 show. And the seats were very good as a result.Up here so high I start to shake, Up here so high the sky I scrape, I've no fear but for falling down, So look out below I am falling now, Falling down,...not staying down, Could’ve held me up, rather tear me down, Drown in the river0

I'm glad people are enjoying the GA section, it's nice to see footage of the recent shows where people are rocking out.
For those bothered about seniority, then yeah, I doubt GA is a plus point, I understand your point of view and I'd advise never coming to a show outside of North America - that's the only place it 'counts' for anything.
Our GA is the whole floor, mixed of 10c and everyone else and I love it. There are seated tickets around the sides for people who want/need them, some of the views from the seats are the best you're going to get.
10C seniority means nowt over here really and I kinda like that, big groups of fans, be they members of 10c or not enjoying damn good live music together2009 - Manchester. 2010 - Dublin, Belfast, London, Berlin, Arras, Werchter. 2011 - PJ20 i & ii, Montreal, Toronto i & ii, Ottawa, Hamilton.

The main reason the there is a lottery for ga...Is to keep fan club members in the 10c....I know the band decided on general admission shows..Because, I sent an email to the 10c..Asking why they decided to go ga....They replied it was the bands decision...I sent reply message...Asking who made the decision to make it lottery ga....The 10c never replied to this email...Pretty much telling me they didn't want to answer that question....
I have a great fan club number...I am not upset about the ga....But, I think it will be ga from now on..Unless there is a major injury in ga etc....0 -

I would go with 2 to 3 shows per fan club member....This would be perfect...

Its all about 10c fan club members renewing their membership.....Now you have a shot at any concert to get ga...Before, if you had high fan club number...You pretty much knew your seats wouldn't be so good..Unless you won the lotttery...0 -
as i said alot of times..now some experience GA for the first time and had eddie and mike in front of them, try to convince them to go back to the seats in front of stage system .;.yeah right.."...Dimitri...He talks to me...'.."The Ghost of Greece..".

It won't matter what the fans want...If the 10c decides to go back to chair/assigned seats on the floor..But, I doubt this will ever happen....0 -

I have no problem with the shows going ga...But, the main reason for ga lottery...Is for membership renewals...I went to both pearl jam concerts in sao paulo last South American tour....I was ga and it was kickass...
It really doesn't bother me..Since, majority of the time I will go for reserved...Post edited by KingJeremyD on0 -

Does it seem odd to you that you emailed a fan club to ask who made decisions about seating versus GA?
Who do you think you are?0 -

Sure, I don't disagree.....It's all about marketing....Just sad how the 10c has changed.....0
