Ed and Brendan O'Brien may or may not have used some auto-tuning to clean a few things up in LB, however, the predominant cause of that "auto-tune" like sound in that part of Pendulum is appears to be really high gain compressing/limiting the the vocal. It's very simple to do. Run a mic through a distortion pedal or a tube pre-amp and crank the gain.

there is no auto tune on this album.
  • I've invested 20 plus years in Pearl Jam......Love em...This being said. The album is for crap! PJ is just cashing checks now. If Binaural/Riot Act/Pearl Jam/Backspacer/Lightning Bolt were never made it would be fine by me. Just my opinion but the PJ of twenty years ago if they traveled to today via time machine would be sick about the effort put forth on this album. Garbage in/Garbage out!

if I told you that I've owned 10 Fords in the last 20 years, but the last 5, in my opinion, were complete lemons but I still believe in them as a company, what would your response be?

Couldn't agree more, well said. Anyone who disagrees has poor taste themselves. Has anyone listened to a Tool album lately? This PJ album lacks any emotion, strength, or "coolness." The lyrics are lame too. PJ has forgotten what made them PJ. Sure we all are aging, but some of us get better with age and apparently some do not. But as long as they get paid, commercially its doing great which I guess is what they wanted, to get paid. Makes me nauseous personally. The album has promptly been removed from my playlist after several tries, its a joke. Anyone want any PJ tix? I can't stomach to hear these songs in concert. Too bad Kurt Cobain is dead, I want my grunge back.

Were you two cryogenically frozen in '99 and then thawed out and brought back this week as some test to see how 2 truly-righteous-alt-dudes would react to this album? That's the only explanation I can think of as to why you two are spewing such shit from your mouths over and over again. It's cool you don't like the new record, really that's fine...everyone's cool with it guys and thanks for sharing.

Oh, and that grunge you're looking for? Try looking for it floating on your breath the next time you open your mouth to speak of Lightning Bolt. You ate it a long time ago.

Every artist/band you hear uses either auto tune or melodyne. The majority actually use melodyne. There is more flexibility to it. I'm recording a full rock album with a multi-platinum producer on protools, like PJ did, and we use melodyne. It can be used just for a word or even a syllable and is used by everyone.

All of Tool's albums have this thing you are calling auto-tune on them. Also when did Tool last make an album? and lastly comparing Pearl Jam and Tool is like comparing a Ferrari and a private jet. Both are super fucking awesome but are completely different other than being a mode of transportation.

    also i want your tickets.
Its Evolution - we aren't all still walking around throwing rocks at each other and Pearl Jam isn't making music in a basement anymore.

    seriously??

Dimi is not from the US, he truly has not heard the term.

Dimi-auto tune is a computer used to make a singer who cannot sing the correct key properly sound like they can sing. Look for a Paris Hilton song, she uses AutoTune, most pop singers use it.

    Think of it as'fake talent'

Thanks from me as well. I didn't know what auto-tune means. Now I get it. Thanks RKCNDY ;)

Do we really think that anyone's voice after 20 plus years of touring, making records, smoking, drinking is going to sound the same. I don't think so. Albums are engineered and produced. So what. I would rather focus on content and lyrics and be happy that my favorite band is still growing and putting out albums 20+ years later. We are the lucky ones. I know I have changed in 20 years. Thank you PJ

Look, he's not auto-tuned. Vedder would rather die than do that. And it isn't his voice (smoking or not) that makes this album mediocre. It's the actual songs/songwriting. It's just not good.

OMG that is soooo bad. wow. And yes, a very good example of autotune and all kinds of vocal effects.

this album is no worse than every albums after Yield, meaning there is maybe 2-3 decent songs (Pendulum,Future Days, and Sirens maybe Infallible).

    This.
I've been fortunate enough to see Pearl Jam live.

I am hanging in the balance of a perfect finished plan
