I was worried and had the op's train of thought as well, but I realize you are right. Look at Columbia 2008 for example of a shocker that wasn't foreseen!

I was at that show too!! "State College, State College, State College...Penn State?! Cool!"

I'm a DC res who is driving down to Charlottesville - this show will be the last one of the tour I'm able to make. I'll be rockin'!!

I can think of only one type of person who would ask this question: those who know nothing about Charlottesville. I've been telling my local friends for the past week about how much bad blood PJ fans are spilling about this town, and they roll their eyes and mock your ignorance.

I'm another DC-metro resident driving down for the show. Some of us from the metro area prefer the casual drive south over north. I won lottery tickets to both shows and seriously considered giving up my Baltimore set. However, I realized how dumb it would be to drive to Baltimore to pick up and sell my tickets instead of seeing the concert while I was there.

In terms of anticipation, I'm definitely way more excited about quaint but progressive Charlottesville than dirty, crime-ridden Baltimore. At least in Charlottesville, I won't be worried about getting mugged while walking to and from the venue.

The show is going to be great. No need for Northeast bias deluding people on here. Buffalo was as good a crowd as New York City, but doesn't get the love because it is not New York City. NYC should generate a good crowd because there are 10 million plus people that live there. For Buffalo to do it with a lot less people to draw from is what is amazing, and is something the band should reward more so than a crowd in Philly or NYC.

    Smaller venue too!

Thank you for saying in these six words exactly what I was thinking.

I live in Canada and specifically chose to go to Charlottesville because of how great of a town it is and because of how great the shows I have gone to there before were so great. The show will be awesome.

And I have 2 extra tickets if anyone needs them.
  • C'ville is a great town plus John Paul Jones Arena is a good place for a show. Lots of great restaurants too. Hit the White Spot after the show for a Gusburger.

It's really nice to see the town and venue getting quite a bit of praise. It's making me more excited. I had my doubts on CVille that were premature. Here's to a great gig!

When you say "resale tickets are cheap" what are you basing this on?
because I am planning to go to this, with no tickets yet.
My thoughts were to wait until day of show and get cheap tickets at the venue.
This sounds like a viable option to you?

    And i would not worry.
    Pearl Jam will bring it.
To the most unlikely of places,
    they will bring it.

    :D
If I was to smile and I held out my hand
If I opened it now would you not understand?

People can go to both, I know I am. Both will be sweet, I'm sure the boys will go top shelf for places they never been.

The only thing that's going to suck about Charlottesville is the fact that I can't leave work out of Harrisonburg until 5 pm. But considering I've been on vacation this whole week so I could go to the Philly shows, it's a challenge I'm willing to deal with :D I was really surprised to see C'ville make the cut for the tour, and I'm totally excited since it's a more intimate venue (if you can say that about an arena). Considering I was in the very last row of Wells Fargo on Tuesday, I'm excited to be closed to earth at JPJ!

I made the mistake of looking on Ebay at Philly tshirts and posters--it was slightly rage inducing seeing how people were trying to make their rent payments from 2 posters. Here's hoping I get to Mr. Jefferson's hometown in time to buy my own stuff on Tuesday!

And now I'm off to buy the premium parking. I'm assuming it means that it'll be valet and my car will be returned detailed and with a lil air freshner, right???

    yessir!
and i like small town shows, because i think the band feels less pressure, and there is a relaxation which permeates the air.
