Jeff Sporting Some Sick Evel Knieval Goods...
Options
A friend of mine named Mike Vallely is a professional skateboarder and owns Elephant Brand Skateboards. He just partnered with the Evel Knieval estate/family to produce some licensed decks. I just saw on their Instagram a pic of Jeff holding a couple of them. Pretty rad I must say.

Yeah, he's a good guy. I've known of him since I was 13 when he first became a pro for Powell. When my son started skating back in 2009, he was stunned to see that I had a Vallely deck hanging in my office. He asked if I knew who he was.
I guess he couldn't believe his "old man" was hip to such an awesome skater.
Anyway, my son was always Mike V this or Mike V that. He had to have heart surgery back in 2011, and on a whim I thought about posting a message on Mike's Facebook page, just seeing if he could possibly spare a minute and call my son who was in the hospital still recovering since he was such a huge fan of his. They had just taken my son to do a scan that evening, so I just posted the message and left my number not thinking much of it. Well within 3 minutes my phone rang..."Ya, this is Mike V. calling for Owen" My freaking jaw almost hit the floor.
I told him that they had just taken him back for a scan and that I didn't expect a response so quick, but that I really appreciated him taking the time to call, and that I would tell him. He just said no worries, he was out with his family and if it was ok, he would call back in an hour or so. I was like YES!!!! So we were all waiting and ready with our phones, and this is video of that call. It still brings tears to my eyes...

Ever since then, we've stayed in touch. I even did some work for him on his company website. We met him a few months later, and have got together a few other times since then. Supposed to meet up for dinner this weekend since he's going to be in Texas relatively close to us.0 -

Yeah Cab is still an amazing skater. Really the only other one I want to meet. When I was 13 I met Tony Hawk which was mind blowing at that age. Just last year my son and I went to screening of the Bones Brigade Doc and Lance Mountain and Rodney Mullen were there. I was just as stoked as my kid meeting those guys. Super cool and down to earth. They hung out for a couple of hours after the screening and just BS'd with everyone. It was awesome.0 -
