Only once. Come back at Wrigley.
  • Release gets me every time. Eyes filling up just writing this
Happy up here in my tree
  • present tense last night
"...Dimitri...He talks to me...'.."The Ghost of Greece..".
    "..That's One Happy Fuckin Ghost.."
“..That came up on the Pillow Case...This is for the Greek, With Our Apologies.....”
  • Cried last night listening to the cover of "It Happened Today"-so beautiful and full of emotion.
    "A beacon on dry land"
  • Come Back did the first time i heard it. it was shortly after a friend of mine was killed in iraq. made me think of his wife and daughter. great song, but i don't play it much. hits too close to home. Release definitely brought tears to my eyes the first time i heard it live. crowd reaction was so moving. it was as if all of the pent up negative energy in the arena was let go with just two words spoken in unison by 20,000+ "release me"
  • I'm sure many of us have this same feeling but I feel that as I get older and experience new things in life (birth of a child, marriage, etc.) some of the songs take on new meanings and feelings. Lately I get choked up during Man of the Hour and Long Road. Maybe it's because I've decided those are my funeral songs (along with Satisfied Mind by Johnny Cash). My wife is also listening to a lot of PJ for the first time and her overwhelming feedback of the music/lyrics/vocals is the emotion that is conveyed. She has been closed to tears many times from many different songs.

  • I will probably be burned for this one, but the combination of Just Breathe and The End did it to me. My father in law had died and these songs hit home... Hard... I remember I was in Nijmegen (Netherlands) and Ed played Just Breathe, well, it just choked me. It all came back. I was bruised and punched because of the bad security of London Calling a few days before (even was a bit scared of the crowd), but when this song came, it just washed me away...

They are simple and stripped down songs, small songs, with large messages.

You guys will think this is a "too soon" moment, but last night "Sirens" made me cry. Regardless of what your interpretations of the song are, it made me think about how in love with my fiance I am and how lucky I am to be with her. Anyways, that's my story of how Pearl Jam has made me cry haha.

Yeah, when they announced a BDO festival only appearance.
Seeing I hate BDO and won't be going, it made me cry (on the inside).

  • The first time I saw Rearviewmirror in concert, and last week when the Steve Gleason-Pearl Jam special ran on ESPN. I think that's it.

Several times listening to Lightning Bolt last night for the first time - my kids brought my Mom over for a visit with most of the family during the day - she's about to start hospice care and has alzheimer's but still recognizes everyone. Add a lot of wine and it was quite a setup for my first time with an album full of mortality.

Yeah - I was there in Vegas for that in 2000 - still gives me the chills and a tear-up when I hear it

yes - release - after my father died

My father past just a couple weeks before PJ20 - when they opened with Release, I just lost it. The new friend next to me started crying too, it was a moment for sure...

You know that line in Thumbing My Way when Ed sings "I wish that I could hold you... I wish that I had" ? That always causes a flood of regret for every time I missed an opportunity to tell the people I love how much they mean to me and has definitely caused me to shed a tear on many occasions - especially when you factor in how short life is and how finite those opportunities are...
I smile, but who am I kidding...

My wife came home from the gym this past Sunday morning and noticed that my eyes were all red. I had a PJ boot cranked and was dancing around the house like a fool power cleaning. I got really chocked up during I am mine a little while before she got home. It happens all the time to me to many different songs, just depends on my mood, setting, my day etc. I'm a very emotional guy to begin with so it doesn't take much, but PJ just moves me in a way that no band ever has.
