I'm with you, totally surprised to see people standing I'm GA like they have reserved seats. Dance people! Get sweaty! Pack in like sardines!!!!
Lets be honest,
we are the same folks that have been dead in their seats for the last decade.
What for you thought we would start moving if the seats were removed?
LTRP is sounding SOLID live, just as I hoped it would.
The crowd could desperately use some work,
but I'm holding out hope that
a. Pittsburg is just a dead town (that's how I remember it, anyhow)
b. All these people don't know how to use iTunes and haven't heard the album yet
c. Philly will redeem us all in short order. Then the true rock shows can begin.
d. WARM UP gig.
If I was to smile and I held out my hand
If I opened it now would you not understand?

I'm with Harvey on this one. A great warm up show.
Well, there is a really simple reason for that; the setlist was very mediocre at best. Last night's show put forth the worst setlist of songs we have ever seen from the band; very disappointing to say the very least.
We have been going to PJ shows going back to 1998 and have seen some really great shows, but last night's show was the worst pertaining to the setlist of songs which makes or breaks a concert. I thought we'd never see another Toronto night 1 like in 2011, but we got worse last night.

you're the first person who I've heard said the setlist sucked. Everyone else said it was awesome.
The crowd is as responsible as the band for creating a good energetic show. The band feeds off the crowd. If the crowd is there to hear the hits, they haven't done their homework on how this band operates. they are touring a new record; they are going to play as many of those songs as they can. It always surprises me how people go to a show of a band who's been around 20+ years and still expect to hear the classics. The band wants to play what is new and fresh to them.

too much new...before release for this band...maybe
not my favorites....like to rock, but there was RVM and Whipping
but imagine if set lists are set like most bands?
PJ is the best band ever since 1990...every show is different
but remember
1. first night
2. needed better songs..maybe to some
3. getting older and needed a better rocking crowd? It was Friday night? Or is it Pirates and Steelers let down?Don't know....

In Gimli 1993, the band played most of VS before anyone had heard a damn note. And that show rocked. Yes, 1993, I know, I know, but the point is the same. If the crowd's into it, the band's into it, and everybody gets off.

We are not referring to the new material as the band is promoting the new album; no issue there. The big issue was the variety of the overall setlist.
Nothing from Riot Act and nothing from No Code. WOW!!!!
The 2006 show was way better than last night's show from an energy and a setlist standpoint; please look it up.
We are diehard PJ fans going back to the very beginning and we have seen them over the years in many different cities, spent thousands of dollars traveling to see them, so we are not fair weather fans!
FYI, we don't bad mouth their setlists at a venue if we don't like what they are playing.
We have seen better variety in their setlists from past shows, however last night's was not one of them.

The set list was one of my favorites ever and I'm not bias because I was there, they played 5 of my top 10 songs. And the crowed was really good actually, this song was just a terrible example because no one knew it. The truth will show when the bootleg becomes available.

most bands play the same set list night after night chew on that
that's why it's so fucking hard to get tickets. you'd never go see any other band more than once on the same tour; you'd be seeing the same show. every fan of this band going to more that one show knows they're going to see a different show the next night.
you are absolutely right: this band does spoil us.

I love being spoiled by PJ On another note...Eddie did not think the crowd was dead. I'm pretty sure he was blown away by the energy. I'm just sayinggggg.
and with other bands its not just the same setlist , its the same exact show like everything is scripted. the movements aroumd the stage, the crowd interaction. go see Coldplay twice and youll c exactly what i mean.
about the pittsburgh show, watched youtube vids. heck of a show. watched the rearviewmirror clip as well. at the end of that song i woulda been headbanging so hard id have snapped my brain from the connective tissue of my skull
I was a little disappointed in the GA crowd, I wanted to move around, but felt like a tool because no one else around me was moving. I mean, how can you not go totally apeshit during RVM, DTE, whipping? People bounced around a little at times, but it was sporadic. I think US crowds have had to be seated for so long, we forgot what to do in a pit. :(

me too, I mean, christ, there was a woman with her 7 year old right beside me all night, I just felt so self-conscious of the space I was taking up because of it, and didn`t really take advantage of the floor
I rocked out and sang louder in Buffalo in the stands
