Just gave it the first listen and still need to give it a good second listen to give a better ranking. I do know Infallible is the clear cut #1 though - the song is just a fucking knockout. Great album from the boys, this one.
Will give my ranking tomorrow after the second listen.Bristow, VA - 5.13.10

Very hard to do but I will try. This is an amazing album with tons of unbelievably written songs. Wish it had been mixed differently in spots but these are going to be amazing live songs. I also will probably change my mind but here goes.
1. Infallible -the last minute and half or so might be the best I've ever heard Ed sound on a studio recording
2. Pendulum -I hear hints of indifference as well as of the girl and it is an amazing song
3. Sirens -am I crazy or has no one brought up how the album version is way different than the video version? the album version has completely changed the guitars that are playing chords...has added pink floyd-y pedal steel effects during the chorus...also some changes in the vocals (or at least how they were mixed). Weird that there are 2 versions that they officially put out. If anyone knows anything about it I'd be interested to hear about it...
4. Yellow Moon -I hear traces of light years and hard sun and this song might continue to rise on this list for me
5. Swallowed Whole
6. Lightning Bolt -really cool but i feel like i need at least 20 more listens before i really start knowing this song
7. Getaway-I feel like I should have this rated higher but i can't figure out which song i could move down
8. Future Days (wish i could figure out how to delete the piano at the beginning & end)
9. Sleeping By Myself -being a guitarist I absolutely love the lead riff the guys created for this song...wish they didn't cut to a uke for like 5 seconds midway through the song. otherwise a really cool take on a great song ed wrote. it doesn't fit on the album but i don't care I'll always take a song the guys are willing to put out rather than cutting a track from the album
10. Mind Your Manners-good song but i'm not a huge fan of pj's punkies song. kinda reminds of spin the black circle
11. Let the Records Play
12. My Father's Son0 -
really couldn't do this after 4/5 listens.
but infallible is standing out time and time again as a masterpiece.
Its been a long time since I liked any record by any artist right the way through
this record is a gem0 -
1. Sirens
2. Getaway 3.Yellow Moon 4.Infallible 5. Pendulum(this 4 songs,change all the time,not figure out how to rank them yet)
6. Swallowed Whole
7. Lightning Bolt
8. Mind Your Manners
9. My Father's Son
10. Let The Records Play
11. Future Days
12. Sleeping By Myself
this is really an awesome record..i frikkin enjoy it.."...Dimitri...He talks to me...'.."The Ghost of Greece..".
"..That's One Happy Fuckin Ghost.."
“..That came up on the Pillow Case...This is for the Greek, With Our Apologies.....”0 -
You may be crazy, but it has nothing to do with noticing differences between the album version and the video version.JB194401 wrote:3. Let The Records Play I feel is already an underrated song I feel like on this album. I still don't have my official ranking out there yet, but I think LTRP will be somewhere in the middle tier and I think it's kind of a cool, different bluesy song like they've never done before.
Plus, you know Mike is going to be all over the place during this song live and will be spinning off the planet with a shredding, extended bluesy solo where he goes absolutely ape shit.Bristow, VA - 5.13.10
