MYM doesn't come back after the fade. It says "Mastered for iTunes" on the page, wonder why they cut it off?
I escaped it...a life wasted...I'm never going back again

Only one listen through so far. Getaway is my favorite by far. Not completely blown away by it like a lot of people seem to be. I'll have to give it a few more listens....
I agree with everything you said. Getaway is killer, but I'll need a few more listens to let it all sink in.

After several listens Swallowed Whole became my favorite song

now I'm wondering if My Fathers Son will take over....

Getaway/My Fathers/Infallible/Pendulum/Swallowed/Yellow Moon are my standouts

Great album....far beyond Backspacer in my opinion. Not sure if I would rank it above ST but I'm very happy with it.

Kudos to the band on an awesome effort (yet again) and kudos to Brendan O'Brien - the sound of this album, Jeff's bass, Stones grooves, Mike's kick ass guitar solos all sound accentuated on this particular record.
Ed, maybe for the first time in a long time, sounds extremely rich and up and down the range scales - big time!
After 2 uninterrupted/focused listens - headphones and stereo - 'Getaway', 'Infallible', 'Let the Records Play' and 'My Fathers Son' all are standout 1st listen hooked amazeballs...
'Sleeping By Myself' - IMO - is better suited to Ed by himself I think...little country-ish in a country-radio kind of way, not a Johnny Cash kind of way...
'Sirens' and 'Mind Your Manners' still sound awesome, and 'Lightning Bolt' sounded better on the stream then the YouTube video of Wrigley (again, IMO).
'Pendulum' & 'Future Days' are growers :)
Well done PJ, thanks for the "steaming on iTunes" email LOL :lol::lol:
Cannot wait to see some of these tunes live in San Diego next month!!!

why fade lightning bolt? let mike just play. They did it with all or none on riot act. you think there will be a 30 second guitar part and it fades instead.

  • This album is amazing, Pearl Jam never disappoints. I love the feel. I never hated backspacer like some, in fact I really liked it but something about this one just feels more like a PJ album. Sleeping By Myself has a Queen '39 vibe to it now. Sorry all random thoughts, overwhelmed with happiness listening to my favorite band knock one out of the park.

Definite Lowlight sound at beginning of Yellow Moon...with darker imagery that doesnt match the music.
