very strong first half, lost me during the second on my first listen.
Exactly my experience but I have faith that all but SBM will grow on me...well, maybe not Let the Records play either. Will see. But, I gotta say I like what they have done here and really seems like they tried some new stuff.
Strange how some people have to update their itunes first. Mine's out of date and it streamed all the way through every time without fail.
Really dig this album. Yeah I'll wait to let it sink in more, but first impressions dig this. Loving the way it sounds. Jeff's bass tones are rad. Same with Mike's gat tones. Kudos to Brendan on the production too.
Although this album may have a new sound, maybe something they tapped into during backspacer... it has the creativity, mystique and depth that older pj albums (no code, yield, binaural) had. That is something that has been missing since Riot Act. So although I loved ST, this is hands down then best pj album since riot act, possibly since Binaural. If you're not feeling it after a day with it, please continue to listen. This is a dynamic album and may take some time to digest.
Further back and forth a wave will break on me, today...
ARGH!!! Everytime I try to go to the pearljam page to listen it frezzez Itunes or I only got a 30 second snipit. don't know what is wrong or what to do. HELP ME!!!!

First listen was meh... hope this will be a grower.
I feel like Ed is struggling with writing bridges. They all seem awkward and dont transition the songs well. Just when I think Im liking a song, the bridge comes in and ruins the mood.
My Father's Son kind of reminds me of Push Me Pull Me in the beginning.
Sirens is not really doing much for me. Super sappy.
Even the "heavy" rockers on this album seem very polished. Hoping they come across better live.
And why put Sleeping By Myself on this album? Why not Of the Earth??
Really hoping I come around on this one, but I can already tell its going to be one of my least favorites...
Gonna keep listening though... Won't pass final judgment until I've had more time with it.

when you open your existing itunes it will prompt you to install the update. Itunes only, because they will ask on other programs. then try the link from the first page of this thread http://itunes.com/pearljam. you will get a popup window labelled external protocol request- hit launch application. that will bring up itunes and the itune pj site.
cheers.

I appear to be unable to pull myself away from iTunes today Love the new album! There's nothing quite like that feeling when you listen to new songs for the first time, and you feel them settling in your soul as if there's always been a space they were meant to occupy
Couldn't agree more with the email that described the album as "steaming on iTunes"

Congrats boys, album WELL DONE! This album is awesome. Been years since they put something like this out. I just dnt get how people aren't into it. It has it all. It's dark, up lifting and creative in my opinion. Vedder sounds awesome and the band sounds tight. BoB did a great job producing. But, I def think of the earth SHOULDVE been on the album. Maybe we'll get lucky and it'll be included in the fan club pre-order as a deluxe package of some sort. Shit, of the earth is one of there great tunes in a long time. Keep rocking it loud and can we START THE FUCKING TOUR ALREADY!!!
I've only listened through the album once, and I'm definitely the type of person that has a song or songs grow as I listen more selectively, but I feel like the album starts strong and fizzles out towards the end...Too many slow songs in the back half. I love a good slow song, and PJ does them as good as any rock band, but when you have too many, they start to blend together for me. Plus, I feel like a lot of bands slow down with age, if they're lucky enough to stay together. "Mind Your Manners" rocks out and some others hang in there well, too (particularly "Getaway"), but I'm definitely a hard rock, metal, punk fan and too many slow songs end up boring me. So, like I said, only one listen through, but my first impression of the second half was sort of "ehhh". Some of the songs, taken individually, may change my mind, but in the order that they're in on the album? I don't know. Pull "Sleeping By Myself" and give me one more really upbeat song and then everything stands out more, in my opinion. Still a solid B/B+.
Pretty sweet on one full listen and spot listening of a few of my favorites. Took the familiar stuff to new places and there's some stuff on here we've never heard from them. Some unexpected turns show up in stuff like Infallible and Swallowed Whole.
Sequencing feels off, especially after LTRP. Maybe too many mellow songs to squeeze in where there was no space. I'm glad they didn't try to shoehorn any of the last 3 in another place, but they almost feel like they were added on after the fact.
Future Days is the clear stinker of the album. It sounds like a Celine Dion tune. Leaving it bare bones Ed and guitar would've made it palatable, but then it's The End pt 2.
My Father's Son is really cool. Big time Police vibe on this one. Like nothing we've ever heard from them as a whole.
Think Pendulum could be a little more fleshed out, but I'm stoked with what we got.

I love Lightningbolt, and I am very grateful for this band bring more happiness to my life.
Thanks PJ.
My only criticism is that it fizzles out after let the records play. Other than that I give it a 7.5 out of 10
