HI,
To be honest I am a bit disapointed on how things are going with the marketing associated with the new album...
Those facebook posts like "LIKE if you are excited with the new Pearl Jam album!" WTF? I feel like I'm Justin Bieber fan or something...
Now the new interview video with Carrie.. we need to like IFC facebook page in order to see it... Really? This is just getting worse...
It just don't feel like Pearl Jam to me...

Really? If Facebook exsisted in the 90's they would have been using it. Pearl jam is releasing new music for the first time in 4 years, be happy and excited, why let yourself be upset about such minuscule things.0

Where did I say I was against facebook? Right.. I didn't say it.
I am super-excited with the new album. Does this mean I cannot have an opinion? I believe I can
It's just that.. an opinion
Chill out m8."sometimes i reach to myself dear god"0 -
You're absolutely right. They should stick to promoting through trusted music resources like VH1 and MTV. THAT is where you will connect with your base, not the hundreds of thousands of people connected through social media networks. BRING BACK OLD PEARL JAM
DROP THE LEASH!0 -

Once again.. I am not against the use of Facebook. Just how it was used in these 2 specific cases..
Cheers."sometimes i reach to myself dear god"0 -

But you put 3 "marketing"'s in your title.0 -

It's interesting you bring this up. I was just telling someone the other day how impressed i have been with Pearl Jam's marketing for this album. The constant video drops on youtube have been fantastic. Very well done and great marketing. Its so much better than them doing nothing. They are doing marketing in their own way which i think is great. The portlandia thing doesn't bother me. Don't forget that Carrie was in Sleeter-Kinney. They are marketing their band but doing it in a way where it helps out their friend which is a very Pearl Jam thing to do. They are very loyal to their friends.0

Didn't knew about the "Sleeter-Kinney" thing..
I just wanted to see the video and at the moment I have no facebook access:)
Still,I do not resume all the marketing capaing to this 2 cases. I agree with you, this has been a very good one... I'm just talking about these two things in particular:) Maybe now it's just one after your post."sometimes i reach to myself dear god"0 -
I think its great... the lil tidbits of information, music and video clips, dropped weekly are awesome.
they have bait on the hook and I am biting.
cmon 11 days..Hamilton 9-13-05; Toronto 5-9-06, Toronto 8-21-09, Toronto 9-12-11, Hamilton 9-15-11....0 -

Not to mention they baited the hook 80-90 days ago witht he Tour Announcement vid. I think the lead up to this thing has been great.
The song title reveal with the pictures and vine clips were awesome!Enjoy difference. Without it we're all boring!0 -
For me the first countdown was great
Was not expecting it "sometimes i reach to myself dear god"0 -
very professional work at this album...alot of work from alot of people..
all,the videos,countdown was great.
and ill say again, here in the pj official site must put the infos -news first and then,at facebook,twitter,etc..
all members has access here,so no need anyone has other acounts at social media to get anything around the band...
i know millions has access to facebook, but i believe the mebers need to get first and all the infos
and still dont get why they dont use for everything the PJ Radio..this is the most weird of all.."...Dimitri...He talks to me...'.."The Ghost of Greece..".
"..That's One Happy Fuckin Ghost.."
“..That came up on the Pillow Case...This is for the Greek, With Our Apologies.....”0 -
I think they should've cut a month out the lead up, but otherwise it's been some cool stuff. For me it should be a steady climb up to the release, but there was a pretty big lull between the announcement and any real marketing.0

I agree with the last bit. That was a very good way to introduce both the tracklist and the artwork and get therefor a sense of the album...0 -

It doesn't really but in this home stretch of waiting for the album to drop what else can we talk about
