  • I see everyone is still carrying on about this song..lol

I think the dynamic will change BIGTIME when they play this live. With the energy of the crowd and the vibe it's gonna give off. It'll probably turn into something incredible.

Now that I've had time to stew on it, I think it just touches a place I'm not willing to go just yet.

With so many problems in the world, I guess it just brings me down a bit and reminds me of it when I want to try and not think about it, keep it covered up, not talk about it. Maybe someday...
    Oh dear dad
    Can you see me now
    I am myself
    Like you somehow
    I'll ride the wave
    Where it takes me
    I'll hold the pain
    Release me
  • Also...I want to apologize for ever comparing this to a "Nickleback" or "Bon Jovi" song. However it may be structured like one musically. Lyrically it is definitely more intelligent, real and heartfelt.

Structured was what I meant, sorry, in no way would I ever compare any PJ members playing ability to the likes of BJ or NB. That'd be plain silly!

Wasn't quite sure at first listen and I've only listened to it about a Hundred times since then, but I think it might have grown on me. :D I do believe this will be a huge Sing along live, especially the end and I for sure have been practicing

I wasn't sure also, started listening on lap top to head phones then to book shelf speakers. The song grew the louder I played it. Great song been 4 years an excited to see the guys charged up. I agree this will be a sing along at the end.

That new Lightening Bolt video has thrown fresh insight into what this song is about - turns out its to do with the fear being in LA evokes in a surfer who is used to living in a beach house...funny after hearing people talk about this song in the same breath as GnR...its now like the flip side to Welcome To The Jungle! :D

  • I Can't get over....

How Fuggin good this song is! Twice to work, Twice on way home every day since day 1.. I honestly dont remember listening this much to a single song like this since... I cant remember when....

For me, this is song is on another planet compared to anything else out there. I dont think you can fully understand the song until your able to sing along and put the story of it into perspective. Its beautiful.
  • I think it's a good song but sounds over produced. It kind of reminds me of November Rain. I think it will sound better live though

November Rain was the first song I thought of when I heard this song.... But EV's voice is a lot nicer than Axl's. ;)

C'mon. I mean you might think it is overproduced, but November Rain???? The song is much more stripped down than NR. If you want to make "commercial" or "radio friendly" comparisons, I think you can do better...

Here we go again. Why so defensive?? All I said was that it was the first song I thought of in comparison. And it isn't because of how commercial is might sound (I don't really think that Sirens is all that radio friendly but certainly wouldn't have an issue with that - I want PJ on the radio, and I am thrilled that MYM is on the radio all the time. And I am not one of the people who has an issue with overproduction on this song, but rather simply with the mainstream sound it has, but nevertheless I've never even said that I hate this song at all, so please stop jumping down my throat when I comment on it - yes, that's what I feel you've been doing, even though I realize that you are also responding to the other person who called the song over produced). It reminds me of November Rain because of the crescendos and the fact that it's a rock group doing a power ballad about love. For me, NR is the pinnacle of the 'famous rock group doing a huge power love ballad' song. Also, they are both piano heavy songs.

Sirens isnt even half of what November Rain is.
And so you see, I have come to doubt
All that I once held as true
    I stand alone without beliefs
The only truth I know is you.

I wouldn't say that, but November Rain is the more interesting of the two.... I just listened to them one after the other and I really can't say which one I prefer. I think I probably like them both the same amount (although I fell madly in love with NR when it was released in 1991 at the age of 15, and that didn't happen for me with Sirens at the age of 37). They both have their good and bad points. November Rain is nearly 3 minutes longer - that's a little much. And Axl sounds way more out of his element than Eddie. But the arrangement on NR is better and more complex.
