At least he gets their asses in the studio.

Though he could be like a controlling, manipulative significant other. Those are never good.

    Who knows?

hey at least its all about the music with BOB and not the "money making channels" of the music industry that Ed so unlovingly described in the movie "Hype!"

oh no wait, strike that, reverse it.

He likes to add a layer of cheese to everything he touches these days and is rather full of himself.

Are you going to be at Oakland gig? Coz I would like to buy you a beer for this genius post.
I will share this on my wall as well on fb.

No, I'm afraid I'll not be at Oakland, but thanks. Haha

The "tone" of mikes guitar solo alone, shows you that he has way too much input right away! When song have you ever heard of theirs that the guitar sounds like that?? It's your #1 80's ballad go to refrence tone..I mean its like B.O.B clicked on "80's ballad" setting under guitar amps for his laptop protools fasttrack setup..With that being said, I honestly think the song would have been simply amazing if B.O.B was not producing it. And why the f' is he playing on it? He plays the most basic piano lines and his sound/tone is wack as hell. Where the hell is Boom?

Its like Brendan O'Brian is taking the Pearl Jam out of Pearl Jam.

I immediately thought of the tacky delay setting on the Comeback solo when Mikes lead broke in and Obrien had nothing to do with that. It's also something that Mikes done quite a bit in a live setting.

Obrien is 1000x the piano/keyboard player that Boom is and if you wanna stay away from basic, tacky, bad toned keys, the first step would be to keep Boom away from the album.

It really is a schmaltz fest. I still cant believe this is the end result.

Cheese Jam ... I'm done. Backspacer and Lighting Bolt do not exist, I tell myself, everynight I go to sleep. Like WHAT IN THE HELL.

They got ahold of some of Walter White's blue.

Is what I'm saying not true. When did Pearl Jam get neutered and lose their balls. I loved Self -Titled. What happened in the last 6-7 years. My God.

Disagree about Boom, wouldn't say hes THAT bad, but yeah I actually really like the piano at the end of Sirens and I don't think Boom could have came up with something as catchy. And yeah that solo screams Mike, I personally like it but that defiantly wasn't BOB.

This got me thinking, they should definatly cover "Crystal Blue Persuasion" this tour
  • I'm convinced that nothing they do (theses day's) is good enough for some in this community. I've been looking SO forward to hearing Sirens this week ... but because I read through this thread ... I'm losing my hope.

Secondly, how are you already hearing the song?

Can't you all complain after the full album is out?
    Give PJ a chance, no?

Except Boom didn't add those keyboard string to "The End".

Joe Perry swung by today, pulled a cassette from the pocket of his leather vest and said "You have got to hear this. Truly bitchin' and laid on thick."
  • I do not understand why the band would even attempt to be radio friendly at this point. Who really listens to radio anymore? We don't even have a station in Northern California that would play new PJ no matter how "radio friendly" the tune might be. I thought the band would be making rather abstract albums at this point. Trying to challenge themselves line NIN, Radiohead or Neil. I'd be shocked if this isn't the last album they make and I never thought I would say that. I see a long hiatus after 2014, maybe they resurface in 7 or 8 years. This is going to be the first time that even hardcore fans give an album negative reviews. Yes some of that was there with Backspacer but the faithful like myself thought it was just a phase and another great album was in their future. It's not though, it's in a lot of ways it's over. BOB probably didn't help them but maybe the tank is just empty. I wouldn't blame him, it's like a coach who is trying to run a team past it's prime. Not sure any producer could get them to reach past heights at this point. They clearly write better songs apart from each other as Ed and Stone have shown over the past few years. Time to move on and not taint the legacy. Hopefully they still will tour from time to time but no more new material unless they want to really push themselves.

There's a right way and a wrong way to say something and this thread is overflowing with wrong so it's done.

When the album comes out and people hear the whole thing, that'll be a more appropriate time to talk about it and not make insulting comments about the people who made it.
