"the band have no creativity" "why waste a spot on the record with an old song". This bored has turned into a fucking childish circus to see who can garner more attention and spark the biggest backlash from the folks who are looking forward to the record no matter what the songs(don't worry OP, you didn't win a prize). Opinions are one things, but MOST of you are not giving an opinion, you are coming here and calling out the band and being downright ASSHOLES about the whole thing. IT IS MUSIC PEOPLE, and THEIR music to boot. We are truly lucky as fans that to US, they are still viable and mean something to US, and I do believe that we mean something to them. The negativity surrounding everything that is this band as of late has really just been embarrassing. Whether it be the cities not getting a show, the way they revealed the tracklist, or something like this "title", and lets be honest, that's ALL that it is is a title of a song(which we ALL know will be significantly different from the original), you are all truly a real sad bunch....And don't think for a second that I am worried about being call the same, or wont enjoy reading your posts, calling me names back or whatever you need to do to feel justified since I am wronging you so badly. Difference between you and I, is that I have SOME level respect for the band and the art it turns out, MOST of the fans who come here and go to shows, and a little bit of cooth....whereas most of you....do not...tsk....tsk....

Remember the days when we didn't know the titles? And just had to wait till the release date?!?! And then wait to judge a record until AFTER we actually listened to it!?!?!?!?

i'm a little scared that this album won't be in the same league as the first 8.
but i'm not gonna talk any shit until i hear it a few times front to back. i'm keeping an open mindi have a paper here that entitles me to fast track status0 -
I am going into this album with no high expectations.....When you do go in with high expectations.....You usually are setting yourself up for disappointment....I just hope the album is nothing like backspacer.....Hopefully, the band did experimental tracks on this album.....I think Stone or Mike stated something like this in an interview...Post edited by KingJeremyD on0

I really can't imagine what else we could want from them. I for one am highly appreciative, as no other band that I currently listen to does all of this for their fans.
You deserve a high-five!0 -
Topic should be renamed "Signs that there will always be some fans who will complain about anything before hearing everything"0

Would love to hear the people that are pissing and moaning write one song as good as the boys can..
that is, put your money where your mouth is..None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe that they are free.

the OP is right - the album is going to suck and the shows will be worse. If you have 10 club GA tickets to LA Night 1 or Seattle and realize this is going to be horseshit -sell them ASAP!
.... and let me know - i will meet you right in front of the will callI will even throw in a copy of a album from a band that you deem not sucky.

Methinks this is a clever ruse to illicit show tickets from the unwary forum members who's allegiances are wavering

I thought "Without You" is the ultimate UKE song that should b a PJ song. I have no problem taking a Uke song and going full band. I was just hoping it was "Without You" instead of "Sleeping with myself". But I'm open to it. Interested in what it will sound like. Hey, we got a demo for "Speed of sound" and we rejoiced, a demo for that song from the Burton movie and we rejoiced, why not this one. It is sort of like a demo, right? Robert Plant/Alison Krause re-did a Plant/Page Clarksdale song and won a grammy for it. Why not augment an older effort? I like Wash from Lost Dogs better than the original B-Side. That's sort of the same idea. I really want to see what they did with it.
On a funnier note... Wouldn't it be funny if it were a completely different song with the same name?Up here so high I start to shake, Up here so high the sky I scrape, I've no fear but for falling down, So look out below I am falling now, Falling down,...not staying down, Could’ve held me up, rather tear me down, Drown in the river0 -

Natalie Maines beat Pearl Jam to the punch.

Some of you are too sensitive. Just a message board. Quite frankly, I think it is strange everyone is not a little mad that Sleeping By Myself is on the new record. Certainly we can all wait and see but we've heard that tune and I would have to think there is better stuff out there to hammer out as a band and put on the new album. Just my two cents. We'll see what it sounds like. But yeah, it is okay to discuss our opinions or predictions (good or bad).0

I love how this guy is so against Sleeping By Myself being put on the new record, but he's probably never complained that Footsteps is pretty much just Times of Trouble but with different lyrics/singer.
