Where does this album rank for you? Looking back, I think this album has been underrated and it should be on the top of the list for best albums of the '90s. Not saying it should be up there with Ten or Nevermind, but relatively close.

    I like it. Not up there on my top album list but a good album start to finish.

    A really good record. Much better than most of the shite thats pumped out at the moment. But it wouldnt be in my top 50. I actually like their second record better.

    No way in hell I'd put it near the top of best albums of the 90's, it's not even the top STP album of the 90's for me. I'd put it third after Purple and Tiny Music. Purple on the other hand deserves to be near the top of such lists. I love it from start to finish. Tiny Music is great but I don't love all the songs, I like a handful and have to skip around. On Core, Crackerman is probably the only song I listen to somewhat regularly.

    I love Core, but to me Purple is the definitive STP album. Far more diverse than Core. It's the one that's up there with Ten and the other all time great albums from the 90's.

    Core is a great album and I think it should definitely be up there with the best however Purple is my favourite album ever so that would have to come in before Core. Core, to me, is such a powerful, angry album, most of its songs except Creep are very aggressive and sound amazing!. But I agree with Scottstappsucks, Purple has that mix of different elements that worked so well together and made it such a well rounded album, the hard rock of Meat Plow, Pretty Penny with its mystical feel and Still Remains with its almost obsessive love lyrics, I love that album to bits, got me through a tough time too ;) I think Scott Weiland is a real romantic at heart and this seems to really shine through when they do love songs, even if they are slightly sick. :? :D

    I used to really love Core, and STP as a whole, but I just never have any desire to listen to them anymore. Especially Core honestly. I haven't even listened to anything they've released since Tiny Music.

    I haven't really cared for their post-Tiny Music output either. I especially hated No. 4, and that one especially stung because I was really looking forward to it. At that time, on the strength of Purple and Tiny Music, STP was possibly on the way to replacing Pearl Jam as my favorite 90's band. Pearl Jam had knocked it out of the park with Yield and I was expecting something huge to come out of STP to follow up Tiny Music, I even went out and bought No. 4 at midnight when it came out. I was so excited to get my hands on it and then it was just disappointment. And while I've felt that way with some albums by other artists in the past, even Pearl Jam, those albums usually grew on me to where I would listen to them occasionally at least. Try as I might I can't get into No. 4 or anything they've put out since Tiny Music.

    It's good, but as others have noted they really broke out and became their own unique creative force with Purple & Tiny Music, the latter being the best rock album of the 90s, in my humble opinion.
