    Me too. Happy Anniversary. :D

And Charlotte 2000 (which was also my first PJ concert ever). I Got Shit from that show is still my favorite version of that song. And the improv.
    Love the Improv!

Frantic start with Why Go>Animal>Worldwide Suicide>Got Some before going into Tremor Christ, which makes it's first appearance in 3 years. Force Of Nature then gets it live debut and it's good. Definitely an under-rated track from Backspacer. A quick lull through Small Town and Unthought Known before Even Flow. I don't know if it is the mix on this track but Mike's guitar sounds really quiet during it. Ed forgets the lyrics again for Amongst The Waves, and there is a nice little intro/improv before launching into Rats. Big Wave is another to make it's 1st appearance of 2009. Again the guitars sound a little off during Down, especially at the start. After Down, Ed mentions that they have found out Backspacer went in at #1 and it's been a while since that happened for them. He notes they didn't give a shit back then and don't give a shit now! But with them now having kids it maybe means more and they can say to their kids "Daddy's number 1.....and don't you forget it!"The FIxer and Porch close the main set.

Just Breathe and The End open the 1st encore, this being the best performance of Just Breathe on the tour so far. Again, Ben Harper joins onstage for Red Mosquito. Black and Life Wasted close the encore.

Encore 2 begins with State Of Love And Trust is followed by Alive and Rockin' In The Free World completes the 1st of 4 night stretch.

I actually did not enjoy this one as much as I hoped. It starts out well, but the middle of the main set feels so unenergized and abit sloppy at times. I've listened to the second night in West Palm Beach 00 a lot here lately. It's a bit of a sloppy gig, but full of energy and a loose vibe that I enjoyed. I didn't get that with Charlotte 00. What's your take?

Now Charlotte 2003, it's an energized gig that delivers for the most part. Hopefully Charlotte 2013 will too. 8-)
I recommend to go back and listen to this one again.

I thoroughly enjoyed this show. I think not "sloppy" but almost uncontrollable energy, not unenergized by any means. As the next day after VA Beach, it's coming through the speakers to me as, "Hey, we CAN do this!", and the band is on such an incredible high from being back on stage that you can hear it in every instrument and in Ed's voice.

One of the best versions of Hail, Hail and Do The Evolution that I've ever heard, coupled that with a great setlist too of one great song after another! (except for Last Kiss, that is)

It's an interesting thing how we all analyze and hear boots differently. I'm trying to listen to the Charlotte 00 boot now and I'm still hearing/feeling the same issues I had before. For instance, I personally don't hear how Do the Evolution is a good version at this gig; Mike and Stone are slightly off time with one another with the intro and Ed's voice is more strained than usual (especially for 2000). The guitar work on Habit, I believe by Ed, is almost terrible and hard to listen to. Ed forgets the words to both Wishlist and Betterman back to back, slightly messing up the guitar intro for Betterman as well. It just seems like an average, maybe below average boot to me. They seemed tighter in VA Beach the night before. :?

This is what makes this thread great, the differences in how we take in shows. I've noticed a lot of praise for the Fargo gig in 2003, but I thought it was one of the sloppiest gigs I had heard. If the energy level is really high and noticeable that the band is in a loose mood, I can sometimes handle a few more mistakes than usual. I just cant feel that with the Charlotte 00 gig. I listened to the Charlotte 03 boot today, a few mistakes here and there but it sounds so much more energized than what I hear in 00.

Another good example of a show that felt lackluster to me. Nights 2,3,and 4 were much better. Night 2 in LA was my favorite. Crowd in LA 1 was sort of lackluster, and several mistakes were made lyrically if I remember correctly.

    Charlotte 2003

A boot that grew on me around the second listen. Certainly it became one of my personal favorites from the 03 tour. The energy the band puts forth in front of the great, yet small, Charlotte crowd is represented well by the boot. Clearly the band didn't enjoy being in Raleigh the previous night, and makes note how the Charlotte crowd is far better. I believe I read on 5 Horizons that Sleater Kinney said that this was their best crowd of the tour at that point, and a crowd of only just above 9,000 from what I read.

The opening trio of Sometimes-Last Exit-Save You not only builds tension nicely, but its easily three of the best versions of those songs I've ever heard. Nice atmospheric sounds created by Stone in Sometimes sounds so nice. Last Exit has abit more groove than normal. The drumming in Save You is wonderful. Furthermore, its always welcomed to have solid versions of In Hiding and Nothing as it Seems. The band, while incredibly energetic, does commit a few small errors. Ed just completely flubs Green Disease after dissing Creed, but its a hilarious moment. Matt sounds like he drops a drumstick in Evolution and Down (most wouldn't even notice) and gets very slightly off time in Go, but gets back on time in a matter of a second. These errors are forgivable in context and do not distract greatly. Another interesting aspect of this boot is Ed's political speech right before Evolution concerning military spending. It's one you'd have to hear, one of Ed's finest and most serious commentaries. Breath is not botched for a change, instead it's one of the better versions I've heard. Sonic Reducer is one of my favorite covers and this version here does not dissapoint. I like the little buildup intro the band gives it. A very fun Leaving Here follows for a good effect, further creating that driving mood the show has.

In the end, a largely enjoyable and energetic bootleg. The band is clearly in good spirits, having a good time with the very solid crowd.

Thanks, there's only a handful of sites and threads on this board to get decent bootleg reviews. This thread has become the one for us to do some good write ups. Looking forward to your next as well, the Hartford 10 review was spot on by the way. Damn fine bootleg. Like you, Unthought as an opener is a bit iffy, but I think overall it works. Furthermore, I have always questioned that version of All Along the Watchtower as a closer, its OK but the singer from Band of Horses doesn't quite nail the song. Otherwise, that boot is near flawless. I would like to see your thoughts on Charlotte 03, its a sleeper one around here for sure.
