Pearl Jam at Wrigley-Popmatters review

edited August 2013 in The Porch
I've been a part-time music journalist for about six years now, and was very fortunate to have the chance to cover Pearl Jam at Wrigley Field.

The day after the show, I didn't think it would be right to simply report on the concert itself. I ended up writing a story about the band and the community they've created. Wrigley Field was special in a lot of ways, but as I wrote, it may have been PJ's defining moment. This is a story for the fans, the ones who have kept the band afloat all these years. Please give it a read and let me know what you think!

Wow - quite excellent - highlight:

Pearl Jam nonetheless remains a traditionalist group, respecting live music as a life-altering event. And it may be the last of its kind.

    SHOW COUNT: (170) 1990's=3, 2000's=53, 2010/20's=114, US=124, CAN=15, Europe=20 ,New Zealand=4, Australia=5

  • Wow - awesome review. Very well written! I'm printing this out to share with my family and co-workers. Maybe this will help them understand why I am compelled to travel around the US to see this band. You expressed what I cannot with my words.

You completely captured all the emotions I was going through that day. Awesome write-up!

    This part, so true..
One does not simply attend a Pearl Jam concert. While the actual performance itself usually ranges between a weighty two-and-a-half to three hours long, the entire event is a physically and mentally demanding process. When Pearl Jam rolls into town, the dedication of fans is often tested

Id say it was a tad over dramatic, but well written
